Complete Cover And Donor Cover

Published

We are excited to announce the general availability of two new features for Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT® online donation forms in the U.S. and Canada: Complete Cover™ and donor cover. Both models are ways to reduce processing costs related to online gifts. Both models will delight your supporters with options: the option in how to help you with costs. And by presenting you two models, you too have the power to drive the right donor experience by leveraging the right model for a given donation form.

I am happy to be back on the topic of reducing costs, specifically those related to processing donations online using Blackbaud forms. Specifically, we are excited to announce the general availability of two new features for Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT® online donation forms in the U.S. and Canada next week, Sept 19, 2022: Complete Cover™ and donor cover. Both models are ways to reduce processing costs related to online gifts. Both models will delight your supporters with options: the options in how to help you with costs. And by presenting you two models, you too have the power to drive the right donor experience by leveraging the right model for a given donation form.

So starting next week, you will have the choice of which cover option you use on your forms. Regardless of which model you use for a given donation form, the outcome will be more online revenue fueling your mission today and insulating against future online cost pressures.

What is Complete Cover?
  • Complete Cover is a new model that covers the full cost of processing for eligible transactions, so you receive 100% of your supporter’s gift or event registration.
  • It empowers supporters to choose at checkout if they want to pitch-in toward costs. Any extra given by your supporter is totally optional!
  • The outcome for the organization is unrelated to the action of the supporter: Blackbaud will cover costs for you no matter what the supporter decides.
What is Donor Cover?
  • Donor cover is a model widely available in the market
  • The supporter is given the option to cover costs related to their specific transaction
  • The outcome for the organization is directly tied to the participation, or action, of the supporter to pitch-in toward your costs. The higher the participation, the lower the net costs.

What’s Next? On September 19, we will launch Complete Cover and donor cover as standard features in the Raiser’s Edge NXT form editor.
  • Auto-enable group: For eligible organizations already using the Raiser’s Edge NXT forms, we will auto-enable Complete Cover on your live donation forms following the testing conducted earlier in the year described in this blog post (link.) This will reduce the amount of work you have to do on your end and also deliver the fastest path to reduce costs. But if you don’t want to use Complete Cover on your forms, we will provide a simple one-step method to opt-out. Moreover, you can add or change any single donation form to donor cover, or no cover, by using the form editor. Organizations included in this group will be notified via email and in-product communications.
  • If you are not in the auto-enabled group: You will still have access to these cover features. Complete Cover and donor cover will be added as features to your form editor. Simply create a new form or edit an existing form to add your preferred cover option. For those organizations using Online Expressâ„¢, now is a good time to consider leveraging Raiser's Edge NXT forms.

Resources - To learn more about your cover options we strongly recommend spending about 10 minutes with the following resources. For a more in-depth review of these cover options, register for our upcoming Feature Focus session.

Thank you for the summary you provided. It has proven to be extremely useful in my discussions with my team. I do have one question, though, that I haven't been able to find information on. I noticed that when DonorCover or CompleteCover are turned on, PayPal/Venmo is not available as a payment option at checkout. Could you please assist me by sharing a resource that explains why this is the case? Additionally, if there are any plans to include PayPal/Venmo as form options in the future, I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide.

Thanks!

Thank you for providing the resources. The videos helped to understand the Complete Cover and Donor Cover. We use a third-party online donation software (unfortunately) and utilize the Donor Cover. I was pleasantly surprised by how many supporters are willing to cover the fees associated with their donation.

Hi, this sounds like a great option. I didn't notice in the FAQs if this is available with NetCommunity donation forms?

Jenny - thanks for your note. These cover options are not currently available for forms outside of Raiser's Edge NXT and Etapestry based forms. But you can still use Raiser's Edge NXT forms in collaboration with Blackbaud NetCommunity functionality - like pointing a NetCommunity campaign to a Raiser's Edge NXT form. I am not an expert on all the ins and outs, but I do know it is an option.

Thanks for the information! I've shared it with my team.

We are very happy to have this implemented--being a nonprofit, we find many of our constituents are glad to help us cover the associated transaction fees.

Thank you for the videos - it's so helpful to see this broken down!
