Blackbaud Pro Tips: Browser And Mobile Device Shortcuts

Published
In this day and age, multitasking has become the norm for most people. Managing and balancing so many different things at the same time can really take up a good amount of our energy and time, so any opportunity to find a shortcut or easier way to handle something is a major win.

With a focus on helping you in your daily activities, and maybe even lighten the load somewhat, I present the newest blog series: Blackbaud Pro Tips! This is where we highlight some tips that aim to improve or shorten some of your tasks with the K-12 suite of products.

For the inaugural post, we’re looking at some handy tricks for your browsers and mobile devices.

Activate Spell Check!
While spell check has become a modern convenience in almost everything, there may be times when it may not be on or active. Fear not because there is a solution!
  • For Google Chrome, select Menu (it may look like a vertical ellipsis of three dots in the upper right corner) and then Settings. Under Advanced settings, find Privacy to enable the Use a web service to help resolve spelling errors option.
  • For Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari, select Menu, and then Options. Under Language, enable the Check my spelling as I type option.
Still having problems or don’t see your browser listed here? It’s entirely possible that an add-on or plug-in needs to be installed or your version isn’t supported.

Make a Shortcut to the Home screen on your Mobile Device
Why spend the extra time to log in to your school website or login page the conventional way? Let’s save some time, taps, and click to create a shortcut right on your mobile device’s homepage!

To quickly access your instance of Blackbaud Education Management, follow these steps:
  • For an Android device, open Google Chrome. Enter the URL, tap the Menu button (it may look like a vertical ellipsis of three dots in the upper right corner) and then select Add to home screen. Enter a name for the link (such as "My School Login") and then select Add.
  • For an iOS device, open the Safari app. In the address bar, enter the desired URL, tap the Share button (it may look like a rectangle with an arrow pointing upward from within) and then select Add to home screen. Enter a name for the link (such as "My School Login") and then select Add.

Hi Kathryn! So some of the other Blackbaud products do have their own dedicated mobile apps, but K-12 does not.

With that said, our K-12 suite is responsive so it's entirely possible to use them on a mobile device or tablet as needed.
Any chance that Blackbaud will get a mobile app?
