What’s New: K12 Product Updates For May 29

Published
As I hinted at earlier this month, May is like a great BOGO:Two for the price of one! We’re not giving you just one release as we normally do, but we’ve got one more for you before June arrives.

This time around, it’s a heavy Core and Academics release. In fact, we have a pretty cool new feature for platform managers which we’ll discuss in just a moment. Data import is also another big focus in this release and we also have a small, but important update for the API change log.

Here’s a quick look at some of the items coming to you tomorrow, May 29.

Core: Blackbaud ID admin console! One of the biggest pieces to this update is the new tile that appears on the Core dashboard for site administrators. After logging in through Blackbaud ID, the Admin console grants quicker access to Authentication settings and Connected apps. What’s great about this update is that a direct URL is no longer required to access and configure SSO for BBID or SKY API for Schools.

Academics: Class Updates! We also have a couple of updates related to classes in Academics. We’ve replaced Create sections in bulk with Create classes in bulk. Basically, schedule managers can select to create classes using the target number for classes set for each course or using a calculated number of classes. These classes can be created for all or specific departments.

The other update is that new columns (like class status, teacher status, etc) and filters have been added to Classes under Request and schedules.

Of course, there’s more to this update than what I’ve laid out here. For those of you who want a visual breakdown of 14.06, the monthly release video is waiting for you below. While you’re there, we’d love it if you gave us a like on the video and don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for all our latest video content.

We want to hear from you! Let us know what you think of this update. Leave a like and a comment below if you have any questions, comments, or just want to say hey!

Before we wrap up for this week, make sure you check out last week’s blog post as we pull the curtain back on our new Teacher Resource page. Also, join me next week as we take a look at our plans for videos going forward. Some big things are coming, so strap in!

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and I’ll see you all right back here next week.

I think you should consider timing on updates.  The end of the school year - May is not a time to make changing things when things are fairly hectic.  Maybe wait a month.  I also realize there is "no good time" but - May...
