What’s New: K12 Product Updates For September 18

Published
We’re taking a slight break from our regularly scheduled content to bring you something completely different! As many of you know, we’ve kicked off the month of September with a bang by not only bringing back our weekly content here in the community, but by taking an in-depth look at everything you may have missed during the summer.

So, if you’re looking for the next entry in the Summer Blog series, it’ll be back next week. For today, we’re examining the latest monthly release for the Blackbaud Education Management products. For a complete rundown of everything in the September release, make sure to check out our full release notes.

We have a lot under the hood this month, especially for the EMS product, so let’s get to it! Here’s just a few of the major additions coming on September 18, 2019.

Enrollment management: Candidate Recommendation forms are live! After spending time as an EAP, we’re happy to announce that Candidate Recommendation forms and the Ratings matrix feature are live for everyone! These features aim to make the candidate recommendation process much smoother for faculty and admissions managers. For more information on this feature, check out our documentation here.

As I hinted at above, Enrollment management has a lot more major updates this month including conditional logic on the Custom Candidate Block, landing page changes for parents of candidates and a bunch of major quality of life updates for Application and Inquiry forms. More on that last subject in a bit.

School website: Even more photo management updates! Thought we were done making your life easier when working with photos? Not a chance!

This month sees the School website team expand the functionality they added in over the summer months to other content types. In this release, new options like crop, rotate, and resize can be found inside of other content types that include Lists, News, Links, and Text.

In addition, the default photo resolution values have been updated to the maximum allowed on all content types. This move provides the best resolution possible when working with photos.

Academics: Gain greater control over Transcript Builder. In this release, we’ve worked on making the transcript builder process more intuitive. When accessing transcript builder, an outline now appears around the section that is impacted by the changes you’re making. A number of bugs related to designing a transcript have been fixed as well.

In case you missed it, keep an eye on our Official YouTube channel. Not only have we been posting new feature content, with many hand crafted specifically for teachers, but we have a lot more on the way very soon. Make sure to subscribe in order to stay up to date on our latest video content as soon as it goes live.

As always, thanks for your support here on these blogs. I do hope you’ve been enjoying the Summer Recap posts. We have a couple more planned and then we’ll be moving on to some topics that have had a reputation among our users. That’s all I’ll say for now.

And that’s going to do it for now! You know what? I’m really liking this double post schedule we’ve adapted, so let’s go ahead and continue that for this week. Before you depart, don’t forget to leave a like and a comment below if you have any questions, comments, or just want to say hey!

So mark your cale
ndars for this Thursday as we continue our look at this release and how we took your EMS feedback from Community Ideas and made them a reality with this release. I'll see you then!
