The Month in Review: July 2020 Feature Releases

Published

Somehow, we’ve already reached the end of July. Before the final summer month kicks off in full, let’s take one more look back at all of the new content that came to Education management in the month of July.

Is it just me or the summer suddenly starting to fly by? Another month down as we head into our last official summer month, though for many of you, the school year is likely right around the corner. Either way, I hope you’re all continuing to find ways to have a happy and health summer under these current times.

July continued to be a busy month for us here working inside of the Education management products. We have a lot to get to, so let’s take one final look back at everything that arrived in July for Education management.

Academics
As usual, Academics received a lot of updates in July.

Earlier this month, we added the ability for teachers to export a .csv file of their assignment data from the Assignment Center or Assignments tab. In addition, the Mastery export function automatically downloads the file with a .csv extension.

July also brought a few updates for schedule managers. Building and room names were updated to display across multiple rows instead of truncating longer names. Schedule managers can also filter Student enrollment by course section.

Grading managers now have the option to select a registration period from a dropdown when editing an academic official note.
Other updates include:
  • Administrators can now search by the school-created Course code when managing groups.
  • The new Assignment Center now displays using the default options originally set by the admin.
  • Under Preferences, Add to cumulative grade and Publish grade can be added to a Gradebook by default. If Add to gradebook is set to Unselected by default, both of these new options will be disabled.
  • When a teacher adds materials to a Topic, they can set the publishing options for the added widget.
Core
In July, Core continued making more progress with Preferred Name with Advanced lists. When working with them, list managers have the option to use the new field called Preferred or First Name under User Base.

New auditing tools were also added to the Business field inside a user’s Contact Card. Any changes are made to Add Business Data, Edit Business, or deleting any current business data, the profile changes are logged under a new section called Business.

Other Core updates this month include:
  • When creating or editing Pushpage templates in Core or School website, we’ve updated Nickname to now say Preferred name.
Enrollment management
While the Enrollment management team was hard at work behind the scenes on the Student Checklists EAP, there were a few additional updates in July as well. Stay tuned for next month when we dig into Student checklists!
  • Medical forms now have a File Upload block that can be added to form layouts.
  • Past-candidates who have reapplied now have their Re-apply setting checked off from their candidate profile.
School Website
There were several ReCaptcha changes this month from the School website team. Custom made forms, giving forms, Event registration, News comment entries, and the Store no longer require the user to do ReCaptcha. Instead, the tool has been replaced with a new, behind the scenes security solution.

Lastly, when inside the School website app, viewing athletic rosters now display the Preferred Name of users. If one isn’t added, it defaults back to First Name.
