Who Hasn’t Dabbled In Cubism?
Will Wellman
Blackbaud Employee
I was, well let’s be nice and say, “rowdy” as a child. I listened to my parents, but there was a limit to that listening; mostly impacted by whether I thought I could get away with something or not. Many a night at my house was spent “chastising the unruly one” for doing totally normal little kid things like digging holes in the front yard looking for treasure, drawing late era Picasso-esque caricatures on the walls of the hallway, and (on more than one occasion) covering the family cat in glitter.
Looking back, I certainly wasn’t the most upstanding citizen as a child, but I did what I could. While I had a “creative” streak, I also always did my homework, never strayed too far outside of our house, and I even voted in school elections because I truly believe in Elementary School democracy.
I just think it was hard for my parents to keep track of me during my random bouts of energy. Since adulthood, I’ve tried to make up for my indiscretions by being as mild-mannered as possible. And despite my still-strong desire to dig in my front yard, I am glad I have the cognitive tools to tell me that isn’t a good idea.
Readers, you may be thinking: You sound like a handful, but what does this all have to do with Financial Edge NXT?
I’m glad you asked!
I think if my parents were able to track my whereabouts and report on them to each other, I may not have been as “unruly.” It’s like the grants you may receive at your organization. They can go toward a lot of different things, and you may not know exactly where they’ll end up, but you want to make sure you can report on and keep track of their comings-and-goings.
Luckily, with Financial Edge NXT, you can use Grant records throughout your database to keep those “rowdy children” under control. How? By learning to set up your system for grants, how to create Grant records, and how to use those records in transactions.
Quick Tip: You can filter the built-in grants dashboards on specific Grant Transaction Codes to quickly view an Income and Expenses report.
Come learn more about using Grant records in our newest 90-minute course, Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT: Grants.
