On the first Thursday of every month, we bring you the latest Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT® news on everything from current projects and initiatives to release information and much more!

What’s New

You can now add and edit funds in Financial Edge NXT! The fund record displays information about a fund, such as description, fund ID, and transaction requirements.

From the Funds list page, you can also lock beginning balances for funds. When you lock beginning balances, all balances are cleared and locked at zero.

TIP: You must lock beginning balances on funds in order to post transactions.

What’s Next

We are currently working on several features for Financial Edge NXT web view.

• Create multiple accounts – Add multiple accounts at one time.
• Electronic signatures – Add and edit signatures.
• One-time checks – Create one-time checks.
• Permissions – Manage all user security from web view.

Treasury Updates

We’ll be introducing updates to Treasury's deposits and Miscellaneous (Misc.) Payments in Financial Edge NXT in the coming weeks. Misc. Payments replaces Cash Receipts in the database view, so you'll no longer enter deposits and payments in the database view.

Bank accounts, credit card accounts, and Treasury reports are not impacted by these changes, so you’ll still be able to view all your records without disruption.

Enhancements include:

• A new task-based action hub with quick links to related features, recently accessed records, and items that need attention, such as pending and stale deposits.
• Improved deposit workflow, including improvements for moving Misc. Payments from one to deposit to another.
• More efficient filters to search and locate records in lists, which also provides the ability to query data and exclude records when filtering lists!
• Increased visibility for Misc payment categories.
• New location for custom fields from Settings in Treasury.

NOTE: The update is for customers who use Cash Receipts in the database view, web view, or both. If you use Accounts Receivable in database view, this update will not impact you.

Customer Success Webinars

You are invited to attend the Financial Edge NXT enablement webinars we have scheduled for August! It’s a great way to learn tips, tricks, and best practices. The month of August, we are previewing some of the new releases coming to webview.

Our first session, Explore the New Updates to Security & General Ledger on Thursday, August 11, 2022, where we’ll cover:

• Managing user permissions
• Creating multiple accounts at once
• Managing your funds
• Locking fund balances

Then, the following week we are hosting a Virtual Open Office Hours on Thursday, August 18, 2022, where we’ll take any questions; you have about working in your Blackbaud Financial Edge solution.

Lastly, we’ll close out the month with a session dedicated to Dashboards & Insight Designer on Thursday, August 25, 2022. We’re excited to have one of the SKY Reporting & Insights Product Managers joining us where they will help us in covering:

• How to build a Dashboard and configure it to be emailed to stakeholders,
• Create a Dashboard by using the out-of-the-box insights available in Dashboard builder,
• Then, we’ll learn how to leverage Insight Designer to help you design your own custom metrics to help meet your specialized reporting needs.
