ResearchPoint Training Renovation

After creating a comprehensive renovation plan, we’re now rebuilding the curriculum, and soon we’ll have something fresh and modern without losing the original solid foundation. Oddly, this reconstruction effort parallels my own life situation—I’ll be moving into my new home, when renovation is complete!
So how does remodeling my home parallel our ResearchPoint training renovation? Read on...

Renovation plans

My new house has great bones—new roof and HVAC, beautiful original hardwoods, lovely mature trees, and a great layout. However, it needs some work. The entire house needs to be rewired, the kitchen is pretty outdated, and I’d like to add a master suite. I’m not going to tackle this all at once, but rather in stages.
This is the same process ResearchPoint training will go through. There’s great information and lots of helpful tools, which we’re going to keep, to help you achieve your goals. All sessions will become standardized to three hours and will be more interactive and with a new look and feel.

Stage 1 – The essentials

The electrical wiring in my new house is from 1954 and really needs to be updated. It’s a safety issue—plus I need to upgrade the service so I can run the vacuum and microwave at the same time. Sigh.
Our ResearchPoint training upgrade begins with the basics, too. We’re taking our two foundational courses, Intro to WealthPoint and Introductory Essentials, and combining them into one three-hour session, ResearchPoint: Fundamentals—Overview. This new course contains the same great foundational information, but we’re upgrading the service. This session now includes much more interactivity and chances to explore ResearchPoint in a training environment. This new course will be live in April!
We’re also extending A Day in the Life of a Researcher into a refreshed three-hour course, ResearchPoint: Fundamentals—Research. Using the standard Blackbaud University format, this session is more interactive and dives deeper into the topics that matter in your day-to-day work.

Stage 2 – Update and improve
After I complete the rewiring at my house, I’ll update the kitchen. The appliances are new and will stay, but I need to knock down a wall and replace the cabinets and tile floors.
Similarly, the next stage of ResearchPoint training updates involve reworking and updating the remaining existing materials. Keep an eye out in the ResearchPoint Community and on Training Central for the next courses to be refreshed!

Stage 3 – Expand

Once my house is safely wired and the kitchen has been remodeled, I can tackle adding a master suite. I’ll convert the den into a full bedroom with bath. This will expand my house from a two-bedroom to a three-bedroom—increasing the value.
ResearchPoint training will also gain some new value added content. This year we will be adding an eLearning library as well as building and delivering outcome-based courses to maximize the success of your fundraising efforts using ResearchPoint. Look for new sessions inside Training Central.

What stays the same?

In my house, I’m keeping the original hardwoods, the layout, the new roof, and HVAC.
For ResearchPoint training, you’ll continue to sign up through Training Central. Take a look at the ResearchPoint curriculum to sign up and stay current on the updates. Remember to sign in with your blackbaud.com account to review the available classes and sign up for the new sessions.

Thank you for your help Leah. I am working with the team to sort out the details and was fortunate enough to experience the Fundamentals--Overview with Naomi. Kudos to Naomi for a completely interacitve class and the new format.
I had posted earlier and in another place in the community. Will both Fundamentals classes be free for al ResearchPoint users? (As the two Intro classes were free.) Thank you.
Can you confirm that the two new  Fundamental classes will be free, like the Introductory classes were? Thank you.
Welcome as the new curriculum lead Leah. I'm looking forward to the seeing the RP renovations. They sound exciting.  My hope is there will be less emphasis in the Intro to RP on the admin and levels of subscription. I make all my users aware prior otherwise it is confusing to new users. Just sticking to the system and no sales information would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
