Position Description

Title: Stewardship & Development Specialist

Position Type: Full Time

Position Objective

To support all stewardship and development activities carried out by staff and parish members within the life and faith tradition of St. Bartholomew’s Church in the City of New York. The position focuses on the campaigns, donation/pledge data, acknowledgement/receipting, events, and overall stewardship of donors and supporters, within a faith community that practices open hearts, open minds, and open arms.

Major Responsibilities

Gift Entry, Acknowledgement, & Reporting:

  • Participate in St. Barts’s development and finance operations, with an eye for accuracy, consistency, clarity, and strong customer-service in support of efficient, effective operational practice and positive donor experience.
  • Receive, enter, and manage donations and pledges using Raiser’s Edge.
  • Follow up on donor and staff inquiries related to gift entry, gift acknowledgement, and giving summaries.
  • Generate accurate and timely acknowledgment letters/tax receipts for all donations and pledges, ensuring that signatures are obtained and mailing is completed; prepare and mail giving statements to all donors.
  • Produce gift reports and giving summaries by month, event, program.
  • Maintain financial and organizational assets commonly used in development.

Campaign Support:

  • Work with the Communications team on the preparation of print campaign materials and social media/online components.
  • Compile mailing lists, print materials, and complete mailings.
  • Work with the Director of Stewardship & Development to organize parish member/leadership participation in the pledge drive via video, in-worship testimonials, pulpit announcements, leaflet announcements/updates, etc.

Engagement/Events:

  • Prepare invitations and thank yous (e.g., website and email copy) announcing events, promoting registration opportunities, and thanking attendees.
  • Attend/Join events and serve alongside the Director of Stewardship & Development, as staff to events, including planning, executing, and logistic coordination of catering, seating/breakout rooms, awards, guest support, and program.

Professional Qualifications Required

  • Three years administrative experience in a business or nonprofit office setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, preferably Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge.
  • Microsoft Office proficient.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Sincere desire to work through the vision and mission of St. Bart’s.

Compensation
Salary: $45,000-$55,000
