Mangaing Stewardship/Donor Contacts

We are new to BlackBaud .  We are trying to understand how can we efficiently manage Stewardship Contacts. We would like to manage only active Donor Contacts. Say for example if we have a fund associated to two donor contacts and its loaded successfully in BlackBaud. One of the donor is deceased, then when we do the Stewardship contact import, that fund will have only one donor contact and the import file will not have deceased donor contact. We would like to understand how we can make the deceased contact inactive and disassociate from the fund.

Any insights on this would be helpful.

  • Hi Gokil,

These are the ways I have found to remove contacts. Since as administrators, we can not delete donor contact records I simply go into the contacts record that I want to be removed and delete all of the information so that it leaves a blank record. All that will remain is an ID number.  I then request through Blackbaud chat to have this record ID deleted. Or you can delete the contact from your original import list and then request to have the list uploaded again to replace all of the contacts with the current list. Hope this helps.

Another option is to add a column to your Donor Contact import file such as "Active Status" if you have something like this in your donor CRM. Values could be Active/Inactive.

You could then filter out any Inactive donor contacts from your grid views and/or remove the "user" from the inactive donor contact so they can't log into the portal.
