bbcon 2021: Call for Content!
Crystal Bruce
admin
Hi!
It's hard to believe that 2021 is finally here and we can start talking about bbcon! We would like to know what kind of content you'd like to see featured at bbcon 2021 this year. Any speaker session ideas? Any subjects you'd like to know more about? What's on your mind and what would you like to see? Let us know!

More about SKYUX. Tips and Tricks and what's ahead.8

I would like to see more sessions given by my peers in the Blackbaud Community. But not me, I need a break (runs and hides).

We definitely need to bring back the "What is a Database Manager" session, right Sunshine Watson , Ryan Hyde, Stephanie Crawley and Heather MacKenzie !?!?!?
Crystal Bruce are they going to give us more time this year to prepare? (for 2020 we had less than 2 weeks to put the slides together).8 -
Haha, that answers my question Sunshine Watson ☺3

Ain't no bbcon when Sunshine's gone.

Policies and Procedures and how to make Change more positive and motivating to get everyone on board6
-
Hi Julie Baker ! That's an interesting idea. Can you unpack that a little more for us, what do you mean my policies and procedures? And when referring to making change more positive, are you speaking to positioning change in a way which receives a positive response, i.e. change management strategies?

I'm not sure what I am really asking for here - but I'll try. At a small non-profit we know social media is important for us, as is communicating with our more traditional supporters who live in our eTapestry database. But integrating those two, specifically having those social media followers engage even more deeply with us and being able to integrate the data from our social channels with the data we have in eTapestry, would be wonderful to get a better picture of the array of our supporters. Right now they live in two separate galaxies. But as I type I think part of the issue is also getting leadership (the board mostly) to understand the importance of the massive audience on social -- which exceeds our membership by 5 times.2

More info on custom reporting. It is nice to have the statistical data in there, but we also need to be able to pull that into our reports, including a budget. For us that includes visit data and FTE's.7
-
In addition, it would be helpful to understand best practices and workflows...3
-
System changes and upgrades. So many times employees are resistent to change and it can take a few years or longer getting everyone on board. As far as policies and procedures guidance on building them and enforcing them properly again all of this in a positive and motivating way.7

Custom reporting - would like to see Insight Designer best practices and some examples of how it is being used by others.7

In general the navigation for the virtual experience could use some tweaking. It was not my first time using BBCon virtually but 2020 was on a whole other scale and somewhat clunky. I found myself going in circles trying to figure the session days and times. The area with the vendors was clunky enough to be unappealing and I had been looking forward to that. Lastly, for the longtime peers that participate in Champions or even just the Community on a regular basis - I never found "our spot" though I saw at some random point that there was a spot? And there was mention of earning points for visiting different areas and attending different things but I could never find where it told what things, how many points, what I as the visitor earned in points and what could be done with the points.
I think everyone wants as many tips and tricks as they can get. And best practices and tips based on the type of org you are in. thanks for asking!10 -

I enjoyed virtual bbcon last year and think that for a first try as a virtual event it was a success. I'd like to see more technical sessions and ones given about new features of products by Blackbaud employees. I'd also like the chance to get together with other Champions and those who are active in the Community. If there were any options for that I didn't hear about it. I'll miss bbcon in person this year, but I'm glad that the decision to do this was made early.8

All things Altru! I felt that Altru was completely missed during bbcon 2020.
I would love to see tips and tricks, reports and features we might not know about. I would also love to see a session that goes more in depth on Odata. Any type of reporting for memberships would be helpful too.5 -
I would love to see more on prospect research and prospect management. There hasn't been much on ResearchPoint in the past few years.5
-
I would like to see people! Lots of opportunities for socializing and networking and just being together.7
-
I agree! It's nice to connect with others that use the same system as you do. I feel in the past I have learned a lot from my peers.4
-
Thanks Shannon Knight ! This is something we are looking to optimize in 2021.2
-
I'll echo what others have said about wanting more on change management, specifically for the database managers/administrators. We've just completed year 1 in NXT and have found it difficult to both learn/teach the new functionality and keep up with what is changing to learn/teach that as well.6
-
I'm actually more interested in BBK12 - will that be happening in summer 2021? Any thoughts on whether it will be virtual again?2
-
Hi Patti Hommes. There will definitely be more time built in this year since we have made the decision to go virtual so early! We don't have any exact dates yet, but continue to check bbconference.com for more updates3
-
More sessions for Higher Ed - PLEASE!!!0
-
It would also be helpful to have breakout sessions based on what type of organization we are.3
