We're religious but also higher ed. We have primary constituencies Alumnus, Alumnus parent, Student parent, Friend, Foundation, Religious Org, Business/Org, Monk, Monk Family, Acquisition Donor, as well as secondary membership constituencies like Planned Giver, Sustainer, Oblate, Grant Contact, employee, Board Member.

  • Thanks Amy. This is very helpful.
  • Hi,

I have moved this great question from the Community Help Forum to the Organizational Best Practice Community since it is related to a vertical and could include multiple Blackbaud products....

Higher ed and still in midst of constituent code clean up. These are the ones we expect to find at least one of on every record:
    • alumnus/a
    • endowment (hold an endowed fund with us)
    • "Hardrock Club" - our athletic department who share database
    • company
    • Foundation
    • faculty/staff
    • student
    • friend of Mines
    • online event registrant
    • heritage society (have non-endowed fund/scholarship)
    Others used include:
    • board/trustee member
    • Emeritus
    • former faculty/staff
    • ex-student (non-grad)
    • parent
Still working on clean-up. Got rid of code of 'deceased' and 'widow/er' on hundreds of records. They are not in our database because they are deceased.
    • BOT
    • Alumni
    • Foundation Board of Directors
    • Alumni Board of Directors
    • Faulty
    • Staff
    • Individual
    • Student
    • Parent
    • Retiree
    • Corporation
    • Foundation
    • Religious Organization
    • Trusts & Estates
    • Board of Visitors

The number preceding the codes is meant to allow us to easily sort these, as well as a visual cue to data entry folks which one should be first on Bio 2 (since that is what RE considers their “primary” constituent code).
