Getting Back to Normal????

I have been a bit absent from Community for a week-ish. I reunited with my older grandkids on June 5th in Orlando when my daughter and granddaughters (17 and 19) were visiting Universal Studios. On Thursday the 10th I flew to NJ for the first time in over a year to see the rest of the family and "the Littles" (5 and almost 3). Reactions were definitely mixed! The 5 year old almost knocked me over and wouldn't let go, and the little one started with a smile and burst into tears! I can't get the video to load, dang it!

Anyway, are you getting back to normal - visiting family you haven't seen, doing things you've wanted to do since this all started??? Let's hear your stories and see your pictures!!! And I'll try to figure out the video!

  • What is this "normal" you speak of? LOL

My life has changed very dramatically, so much for the better, since just before COVID, that I don't want to go "back to normal" in that way. I want to be able to travel again freely (Disneyland, here I come!) and to hug my people when I do get to see them again. I think we're close, but not quite yet there.

Patti Hommes‍, I'm so happy for you that you got to do this!

My husband and I recently went on a trip to see our immediate family - we drove 800 miles in a week! It was great to see everyone and give them a long awaited hug. We're planning more trips to see additional friends/family that we haven't seen in person in a while.
  • How fun and exciting for you Patti Hommes‍ !

We are slowly starting to see friends and family again. There are graduation parties to attend, and other end-of-school events that didn't get to happen last year. In July, we'll see family we haven't seen in over a year - which will be great! And, we are planning a Disney trip soon, to make up for the one that we cancelled in March of 2020. Lots of fun events to look forward to!

    Good for you, Patti Hommes‍!

We've been blessed to live close to our families, so we never had to stop seeing them completely last year. (Except for my grand in a nursing home.) Moms and aunts were still part of our inner circle, and we actually did all the grocery runs for my MIL. But we have missed the play dates and outings with our friends! It was so sad last year, when my little 6-year-old asked me: "Mommy, if --- is my best friend, how come we never see her?" So happy to get a social life back! ???

  • @Patti Hommes so glad you got to see your family! We went to my nephew's wedding and it was amazing to see everyone in person! They were originally scheduled to be married May 2020 but, of course, had to put it off.

  • @Patti Hommes you're photo looks like so much fun!!! Our family went to visit with some friends in the mountains which felt very “normal”. I have to say it was a little awkward getting out and socializing after 2+ years of staying mostly in our town.

  • Nice picture. We went to the mountains in May with family. It felt normal since everyone was vaccinated and we did not have to wear masks when together.
