Mulled wine/cider is always such a treat this time of year!

December 1 starts eggnog time for me. Especially in my coffee!
5 -
Homemade cranberry sauce, none of that canned jellied mess for me!
8 -
Green bean casserole and sweet potatoes with garlic and rosemary
6 -
Tough choice, but sweet potatoes and stuffing are always a favorite.
5 -
I love soup during this time of year!
5 -
Pumpkin pie - and its cousin, sweet potato pie!
I know, not a December holiday, but hey. ?
6 -
I love mashed potatoes and rarely think of making them at times other than Thanksgiving and Christmas (maybe because the weather in Arizona doesn't lend itself to hot dishes most of the year!).
7 -
Duck and andouille gumbo - pretty basic, pretty simple, pretty dang good
6 -
Every year at this time, I make pumpkin roll. It's the only time of the year I do, and it's a tradition I inherited from my Grandmother and Mother.
8 -
Has to be my great-grandmother's molasses cookies! I only make them once a year, and the recipe makes almost 6 dozen so we have enough to last us for a while. Those cookies and a mug of hot chocolate and you are set for a cozy afternoon!

Ok, so I am going to be the honest one here, there are so many things it is hard to choose. My son loves our cookie baking day. We also have big dinners for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve with certain menu items that we make those days. And then there is the fact that it is a snacky time of year, lol. And it's soup weather in PA.

Mary-I just made my first one this year, love Pumpkin Roll. And now I am trying to figure out what other kids of “rolls” we can make.
8 -
Pumpkin muffins, green bean casserole, Grandmother's mashed potatoes, soup, and Grandmother's sugar cookies.

It is in my family! :-D

Gramma Myrtle's stuffing for Thanksgiving, but then I'm with a couple others - bring on the hot mulled cider!

Latkes

If this were in October, I would have said going to pumpkin patches and fall festivals. My favorite food to eat at those is cider donuts. As we get into the winter months, a freshly made soup is great to warm the soul… and the belly, when you are in the Midwest.

If anybody wants to post a recipe or two, I would not object! #SoHungryNow5

I'm obsessed with all the rolls they make on the Great British Bake Off!

@Tina Pappas Adding this to my grocery list!

@Amy Dana Fabulous idea! I'd love to try some new recipes.

Oh I also love Chocolate Mint Crackle cookies. I actually won the Blackbaud Austin Cookie Contest with them one year.
@amy dana, here is the recipe:I use 2 tsp of mint extract instead of one.

I think we need a yum button.?
7 -
The after Christmas lunch cheeseboard is my fav, followed closely by the Boxing Day Christmas-lunch-leftovers curry or noodle soup!
6 -
IDK if it's a “traditional food” per se, but there's a neighborhood Christmas event in town every year and there's always an optometrist office that has chicken n' dumplings out for grabs. It's the best. Something about it. Wowza!

Mmmm, comfort food always hits extra special around the holidays! My parents' Christmas Eve tradition is to make a big pot of chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes.
5 -
Homemade farm noodles (as Grandmother called them) which are actually more like a dumpling and homemade cooked fudge.
4 -
Oooh, definitely my grandmother's carrot souffle! It's a family recipe and the highlight of every holiday
4 -
The homemade candies, the ham rolls, the dips, homemade hot cocoa.
