National Popcorn Day!!

Thursday the 19th is National Popcorn Day. (Insert drooling face ??? )

What is your favorite flavor(s)??

Every great once in a while I make Peanut Butter Popcorn. (Not as hard and crisp as caramel corn and oh-so addicting!) I also enjoy making Cinnamon Kettle Corn, and old fashioned popcorn drizzled with butter and salt.

If you like cheesy popcorn, you're in luck! Friday the 20th is National Cheese Lover's Day! ?

  • @Dana Burton I love popcorn! I'll try most any flavor.

When popping at home, we like to use Spike for salty popcorn, or Penzy's Mural of Flavor seasoning for yummy, but salt-free popcorn. We butter, or not, based on how we feel that day.

I have not made Cinnamon Kettle Corn. That sounds fun!

  • @La Donna Borth, I have to ask - is Spike a brand of salt? Or a seasoned salt? Also, how would you describe Penzy's Mural of Flavor?

I made Cinnamon Kettle corn after my son told me that my (very small) grandson gets to sprinkle churro seasoning on…which started something new for me!

  • @Dana Burton Yes, Spike is a seasoned salt, with multiple herbs included. Hmmm, Mural of Flavor is considered be kind-of western Mediterranean (their description). It does have a touch of citrus, oregano, etc. My husband will use it on any meat.

@Dana Burton - I'm partial to caramel or kettle corn.

  • @Dana Burton nothing beats fresh popped Kettle Corn! But, day to day, I'm a plain salt and butter kinda gal. :-)

    @Dana Burton

I have to say, nothing beats the popcorn at theaters. There's just something about it!

At home, we usually make garlic-seasoned popcorn. We only eat it a couple of times a year, but now I think I'm going to have to celebrate tomorrow with popcorn. It's perfect timing since we have a family birthday tomorrow!

  • @Dana Burton
I will be the rebel and admit I love the smell of freshly popped corn, but I am not a fan of popcorn. :)

  • @Barbara Kunkel, where is the horrified emoji?? LOL That's like when I hear of people that don't like chocolate…my brain does not comprehend how…

  • @Dana Burton

I'm a "plain" boy. No salt, no butter. Just a crunchy, high-fiber snack every now and then.

@Barbara Kunkel my Mom is the same way. She loves the smell and will make it but she does not eat it. She would have us string it and put it out for the birds at Christmas time.

@Dana Burton I used to LOVE theatre popcorn; it seems to be not as good lately, though. ?

I love popping it fresh at home and just drizzling butter and salt, but I hate the hassle of getting out the popper. I really enjoy some fresh kettle corn. Findlay Market here in Cincinnati has a great company that sells some.

    Enjoy, everyone! ?

  • @Miki Martin, we have Amish communities around so there is no shortage of popcorn for sale. I had the best Kettle Corn from an Amish stand a couple of years ago.

I drug out my popper about 3:45 AM this morning to make a tin full of popcorn! Buttery with salt, and a new one - a type of Caramel Kettle Corn (made with brown sugar!)

  • @Dana Burton I'm a huge ? fan and have passed on the trait to at least 2 of my sons. Can't pass up kettle corn at a fair or festival but at home I keep it simple with extra virgin olive oil and salt.

  • @Dana Burton For me - I'm a big fan of popcorn with butter. I must say though, your peanut butter popcorn sounds wonderful!

I love popcorn with salt and butter! I also love peanut butter (and chocolate, but I digress). But I've never had Peanut Butter Popcorn! Do you have a recipe to share? Now that I'm thinking about it, I bet you can take that peanut butter popcorn and drizzle melted chocolate over it…?
