I'm on a roll recently with food posts, so how could I pass up National Pizza Day!

What's your go-to pizza? Mine is easily Hawaiian (yes, pineapples on pizza!) or a classic sausage.

@Crystal Bruce Vegan pizza - that gets tricky and is really specific to the restaurant. Generally means veggies and vegan cheese OR veggies and no cheese.

@Crystal Bruce I'm so with you, Crystal! I know Hawaiian is polarizing but I love it. I also have a long theory as to why pizza is the most perfect food and how there is no such thing as bad pizza.

I agree with you, Tina, pizza is VERY restaurant specific. We have several pizza restaurants where I would order something completely different than from a delivery place like Dominos!

@Kim Ashcraft, how I wish there were vegan pizza restaurants near us! The best we have is Pizza Hut which does stock dairy-free crusts - but without meat and without cheese, how is that really a pizza? I usually end up making homemade (which is awesome because you can superload it with goodies!) or else buying the frozen vegan pizzas at the grocery store.

@Faith Murray We're semi-lucky to have a local place that has a pretty decent all -vegan pizza. They call it the “Tree-hugger.” It's got artichoke on it, which I love. We've also got vegan pizza at LaRosas, and it's only OK.

It depends on my mood. I really love a good white alfredo sauce pizza with spinach, mozzarella, and tomato slices. Otherwise, it is a plain cheese pizza with a well done crust.

Any time I'm at a “build your own” type place, I get: wheat crust; BBQ and buffalo sauce mix; lots of mozz; pepperoni; green and banana peps; a little shroom action; finish it off with a fun little dash of crushed red peps. Slam the whole 10" pie down in a single serving and you're on another cloud, my friend.
