Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT®: Donor Cover No Longer Requires A Designated Fund

When electing to use donor cover, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT® no longer requires you to select an additional fund for transaction fees.To help you raise more, you can enable donor cover on Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT® donation and registration forms so supporters can cover your online transaction fees during checkout. When a donor opts to cover your fee, Blackbaud Merchant Services™ automatically calculates it based on the payment method and adds the total to the gift amount.







Previously when you enabled donor cover, Raiser’s Edge NXT required you to select a fund for transaction fees, which created split gifts. However, based on customer feedback, we changed the forms to no longer require split gifts. By default, Raiser’s Edge NXT now uses the gift or event fund for fees.

• For a donation form, select the gift fund from the form designer under Get started > Designations.
• For a registration form, select the event fund from the event record under Fees.

What do I need to do?

To manage whether to split donor cover gifts, go to Control Panel > Settings > Gift Management > Donor cover designation.

• If you previously selected a fund and prefer to stop splitting gifts, clear the fund from the Donor cover designation field.
• If you prefer to split donor cover transactions and use a different fund for fees, select the fund from the Donor cover designation field.

What else should I know?

• If you allow donors to split gift amounts on a donation form and don’t set a fund for donor cover, Raiser’s Edge NXT uses the first fund a donor selects for the donor cover amount. Enable donors to split gifts from the donation form designer under Get started > Designations.

• If you allow registrants to make additional donations on a registration form, don’t set a fund for donor cover, and don’t select an event fund – such as for a free event. Raiser’s Edge NXT uses the gift fund for fees. Select the gift fund from the registration form designer under Get started > Registrant options.
