Let Me (Re)Introduce Myself

You may have seen my name pop up as the author of the Financial Edge certification blogs over the past few months and wondered, “Who the heck is she?” Or, maybe you’ve gotten a friend request from me and thought, “A Blackbaud employee wants to friend me?” Well, I thought now would be a great time, going into the end of year and looking toward 2020, to reacquaint you all with me.

My name is actually Mary Aquino-Cooper and I’m an instructional designer for Blackbaud University. I’m also a 22+ year veteran of the Blackbaud financial products. You may have talked to me on the phone in Support back in the late 90s. You also may have taken one of my regional trainings or had me teach you in a private onsite training back then, too! It’s likely you’ve worked with or met a Blackbaud employee I trained on Financial Edge in the early part of this 21st century—I was an internal trainer (in many forms) from 2001–2007. And you also could have had me as an instructor for a virtual class at any time past 2008. I’ve written many of the Financial Edge and Financial Edge NXT courses over the past few years and am the lead for the Financial Edge/Financial Edge NXT curricula.

If my name seems new to you, it might be because I took a year or so off from Financial Edge to be the Altru lead, which gave me such a huge appreciation for one of our groups of customers. I volunteer with a symphony here in the coastal Carolinas, and I started a greyhound rescue in Charleston back in 2003…so I love to give back.

I’m now back in the Financial Edge world and I’m excited to be a part of what I consider to be home base.

So, what does all this mean? It means I will be looking at the curriculum for Financial Edge and Financial Edge NXT and trying to build courses that meet your needs. Hopefully, you’ve at least watched some of our eLearning courses! If you are using Financial Edge NXT, you have access to some very cool eLearning on many topics from Basics of General Ledger Data Entry to Basics of Fixed Assets, and beyond! In 2020, I hope to build courses that focus on Financial Edge NXT features that you need to know more about.

Be on the lookout for a discussion where you can tell me what topics you want to learn about. Don’t be shy. Even if you haven’t taken a Blackbaud University course yet, I want to know what topics interest you. Disclaimer: I can’t promise every suggested topic will be covered, but I will investigate every possibility!

    Mary, I think it will be great and I look forward to having more of the financial curriculum FENXT based. I really like the self-paced courses that you may already have had a hand in.
