News: Security Enhancements

As part of our commitment to sector-leading security, Blackbaud is in the process of updating a number of cyphers we use to encrypt HTTPS traffic. This update is intended to help our customers stay ahead of the ever-evolving tactics used by cyber-criminals and hackers.  

 

It is possible that a very low number of customers and/or their constituents may experience a Blackbaud-hosted page not loading as a result of this update if they attempt to access it using a very out-of-date browser.  This issue is not unique to Blackbaud; the small proportion of web users on out-of-date browsers will experience these difficulties in connecting to many modern sites.  We encourage our customers to update their browsers and to notify their constituents, if appropriate, to do the same.

 

Specifically, users on Windows XP (a legacy operating system released in 2001) may be unable to access a Blackbaud-hosted page on Internet Explorer versions 8 (released in 2009) and older. They will receive an error message generated by their browser indicating that the page did not load.  Because Windows XP does not support modern versions of Internet Explorer, users on Windows XP should use Mozilla Firefox to access the page (or update their operating system).  (For more information on Windows XP, users can review this Microsoft support page, which explains the impact of continuing to use a legacy browser no longer supported by Microsoft.)
