Email Preferences

Our email preferences require massive clean up. I want to turn them off, but everyone says I can't bc we will lose data. If I do turn them all off, is there a place where they will be stored and pulled in the future?

  • Hi @Wendy Turner - I am checking with my team on this!

  • Amazing, thank you so much!

  • Hi Wendy, my recommendation on this would be to reach out via Chat with Support to request assistance with this. They may be able to provide you with best practice guidelines and/or recommendation on what to do to update your site wide email preferences without losing opt in data for your constituents.

Hey there, @Wendy Turner when you talk about "email preferences" is this the Email Preferences page that someone might visit when logged in as a user on the front end on the Luminate Online platform e.g. https://secure[x].convio.net/[name]/site/ConsInterestsUser?tabID=email_prefs (please note anything is brackets is unique to each Luminate Online instance) or are you talking about on the backend admin area where someone hovers over Constituent360 > Interests where you might have a list of Email Interests there?

If it is the backend admin area, if you were to delete any email interests there, the groups remain in Luminate Online in the opt-ins and opt-opt folders/group types, unless you also go to the group and delete the group as well.

Any changes to Email Interests on the backend also update the front end when on that URL that I listed above when an Email Interest is added or deleted.

If you are talking about the front end area where you might require some visual updates, like CSS, that can be done if you have access to the Pagewrapper's CSS or you can engage with someone at Blackbaud on our Professional Services team, like myself or one of our partners in the Blackbaud Partner Marketplace at https://app.blackbaud.com/marketplace/ or https://www.blackbaud.com/become-a-partner/find-a-partner.

I hope I am following correctly, based on your initial question. If not, can you please clarify?

    Thanks,

    Hi Will,

I’m hoping you can clarify something for me.

When we send any email, donors can choose to unsubscribe and are directed to a preference page - see above. I believe this connects to the Opt-In and Opt-Out groups in Luminate, but I’m not entirely sure where those selections are housed.

I’d like to refresh this page and potentially start from scratch. Many of the listed initiatives no longer exist, and the page isn’t aligned with our current setup in Blackbaud.

If we delete and rebuild the page, will we lose any existing Opt-In/Opt-Out data? Or will the underlying groups remain intact?

Also, could you point me to where I can view and manage these groups in Luminate?

I’m still getting up to speed and really appreciate your guidance as I learn the system.

    Thanks so much,

    Hi, @Wendy Turner,

The Interests opt-in and opt-out group will become normal static groups retaining the members they had when the interest is deleted.

Optionally if you think you will resurrect any of the interest in the future, you can set the security category on the interest to Administrator only and it will not show on the unsubscribe page for general constituents.

    Thanks, Luis
