Web search results point to past years TeamRaisers

Hi all,

Our organization has approx. 15 to 20 annual events that have used TeamRaisers since 2019. Occasionally, we get reports of web search results that include URLs with past years TeamRaiser IDs (FR_ID parameter). These links can problems or confusion for our visitors. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this situation and how they are managing it.

Our practice currently before closing/archiving a TR is to set the Closed Event Redirect URL field (in Customize Event URLs) to the current year's event. We also update that field for every previous years' TR. Obviously this approach is getting cumbersome given the overall number of TRs to update. One suggestion I've heard is to use the same URL for a PageBuilder in the Redirect field each year, and update the pagebuilder to redirect to the current event. This would remove the need to edit already archived TRs, but doesn't address search URLs which aren't for the entry page.

We've also done regular updates to the robots.txt file to disallow crawling for older TeamRaiser IDs by Google. This isn't always effective nor timely, but it does reduce erroneous search results.
