Install the Microsoft ODBC driver for SQL Server

I'm trying to configure/install a driver that will allow me to click on a constituent record in Excel (exported from RE), and it to take me to that constituent's record in RE. In Excel: Data>Get Data(Power Query)>From Database. We've installed the driver, but I'm getting the following popup, and our tech team here is not familiar with this process. Is there a particular DSN to enter? I don't even know what that is, but hoping the hive brilliance has an idea for the next step in this process.

I think there are a lot of confusion here.

Setting up ODBC connectivity has to do with connection to the actual DBMS data store. Which make sense IF you have a local installation of RE. So first question is, are you Blackbaud hosted or 3rd party/self hosted?

Not sure where you heard that you can open a RE Constituent Record from outside of RE, do you have a reference post or KB article? I know you can export/download a list from RE NXT webview, and it include a “Open Record” first column, which can take you to the webview (internet browser) constituent page, but since you posted in the RE forum, not sure if you are talking about RE NXT.

Not yet. Someone did reach out to me with an option, so I'll try that and fingers crossed it will work for us!

@Laura Becker Yes, I'm not sure this will work in the way you are expecting. This would be easier if you were hosted and using NXT because you could just use the link as a URL that would open in your default browser. Since RE is limited for most users to have to open the client for DB view, is the expectation that clicking on the link will just open the client on the PC?
