Another admin in the mix?
My org recently hired a new company president. = new admin
The previous president is semi retired and on the payroll for about 6 months. = admin
I have been admin for the past 4+ years and OCD about everything I do.
Today I received an email from our Partner Relations manager and the new president wanting to make the PR gal admin. = admin #4
Am I being overly paranoid about adding her as admin? My mind vividly paints a picture about how things could go horribly wrong. I did forward this request to the current Treasurer and soon to be Treasurer (my bosses) stating my concerns.

@Dana Burton - You are not being overly paranoid. You have a valid concern, and I was concerned by the second line of your post. The more admins you have in a system, the higher the risk of error, like unintendedly running a process that changes data errantly or deleting an important record.
Best practice is to limit admin access to 1-2 people. Ideally, this would be you and someone who rarely uses RE but could assist when needed. For other users, set security permissions based on their job role and the database areas they need to be successful. I strongly recommend locking down delete, admin, and configuration permissions, as these are the most likely areas to lead to issues with data accuracy, integrity, etc. when not used correctly.6 -
@Dana Burton I mean, the purpose of super users is to restrict who has access to everything. Is there a reasonable need to give everyone admin access. View access is different than delete or add access. Hopefully they'll consider a happy medium.
That said, I don't know if 4 admins is too many. (That said, I 100% would question the PR lady being an admin.) My org has several specialized admins. One is admin because they in IT, and are site admins. My boss and I are RE admins. Our CFO is an admin for posting. I honestly like having 2 admins, and perhaps a group of power users to do things like export and the like. We as admins should take authority over the data, but the database doesn't belong to us.
EDIT#2: Now that I think of it, why does your president have to be an admin. I've been at places where there's a leadership based admin (VP, Director, etc.) but I don't think I've ever been in an organization where the chief executive has had complete access. There should be some checks and balances in place for things like that. I think when you start questioning the access of the admins, it's going to raise a lot more questions.

@Dana Burton So agree with @Austen Brown and @Dariel Dixon. I would limit access even if they think they are “Admins." Do they understand the definition of “Admin” in RE-ese and the risks that can have for your database. As stated, time for lots of questions on what is needed, by whom and why.
We have partnership with university and athletics who each at one point had admin level access. They rarely used RE or most functions, I changed their rights to what they needed but removed things that could wipe out data like global delete, global change, most delete options. To this day, I don't know that they even know their access was changed.

@Dariel Dixon, I imagine the current president is admin because the former president is the one who set up the software change to RE and the baton got passed, among other reasons that are my perspective.
I've been the one initiating P&P within our org and fixing what people do to the database. Now, I am questioning everything.
Update: New Treasurer will ask the president to hold off until after board meeting next week and talk about why PR thinks they need admin and see if she's wanting to do things that she may already be able to and just not know how. I'm guessing she wants to add actions to mass amounts of records.

You are not being paranoid and others have given good reasons for limiting the admins but your statement about the baton being passed made me think of this:
