Admin #4

Thank you to those of you who responded about adding a fourth admin. As expected, the current president does not care about my concerns, or those stated. I've been ordered by him and the soon to be Treasurer to make the Partner Relations lady admin. She is now Solution Admin.

Is there any way to set restrictions? I went to “set this user's options” in database view but don't see anything here. In the past, I tweaked the roles so people cannot delete and such.

Stress level is really going up over this. ?

    @Dana Burton - I see three options -

    1. Put these three into a Security Group called “Admin” where they have all the rights a admin would have except the right to delete, do a global change, or access any area that increases risks. Tell them they are an ‘admin’ in the system.
    2. Provide training on the areas they need, emphasize the areas to avoid (they don't need) and cover why deleting is a no-go.
    3. Your mental health matters, a lot. The stress this event (and likely others) are doing to it is not good. Consider looking for a new job.

    @Austen Brown, I have updated my resume and am looking. Sadly, I had hoped this would be my last job!

    @Dana Burton What a disappointing update. What I would look into is creating some maintenance queries where you can see records that have been changed. Also, having admin rights without training is like letting a 12 year old have a Porsche. It's a horrible idea and only bad things can happen.

    Something about this…seems off. I'm not so sure why this new person needs to have admin access, or why the new president would insist on it. Trust your instincts with this one.

    @Dariel Dixon, I very much agree. In fact, I've been trying to get with the PR lady frequently because her people need to be trained. I have yet to get this to happen. I have watched her the few times we've gotten together and she doesn't have a good grasp on what she did have access to.

    I do have queries to watch for multiple things that could be overlooked or forgotten. I have yet to discover an audit trail within RE (previous company had it which was very helpful with a user repetitively deleting amounts of records - thankfully no longer with the org.) I'm guessing a query will have to suffice.

    The only thing I can see from my vantage point is pride. Will not listen to any counsel. He was able to turn companies around and his word is first and final answer.

    Hope and pray a new job comes along very soon.

    @Dana Burton - If you have and use Power Automate, you can set up a web hook to notify you immediately when a record is deleted. Not necessarily a solution that will stop it from happening, but definitely helpful in being aware of what's happening in your system for things that are not searchable.

    @Austen Brown, unfortunately, it is not something the previous president saw fit to purchase. The best I can do is make a query of changes by the PR lady and try to find what she does.
