Incredibly slow report run times

I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue or has suggestions. It started on Thursday or Friday of last week.

Simple GL reports that usually run in a couple seconds are hanging up for an hour or more. Some members of our team will be affected but not others, then a few hours later it will switch around and other people will be affected. It's happening on NXT and on database - and when database has the issue, it crashes the whole application.

We've contacted Blackbaud support but so far they're suggesting generic things like clearing caches and trying different browsers, which haven't helped.

If you're also having issues with this in DB view than their recommendations aren't really on target as DB view has no browser, it's using Citrix. I'd go back and impress on them this has been going on 4/5 days and it's not a browser issue if you're also having similar issues in DB view. Even if it were webview, running the same process in Chrome's incognito mode would confirm or dispel that theory almost immediately as incognito mode is running it without cookies or cache.

I had a report in RE (not nxt since it doesn't have a report writer even after 7 years) that ran for 4 hours and then crashed. Sunday night I ran it again for three separate time frames and each one only took 5 minutes to run. So, it seems to have been corrected on the RE side.

I find that ALL reports, as well as some basic functions, are much slower on FE NXT. I hope this is something they address before pulling the plug on database. I'm not hopeful.

  • @Hamish Fyfe I find that this has been a major issue with our company with Blackbaud FE NXT, compared to our prior software. Slowness of reporting is our #1 issue and it isn't even close.

We have been having the same issue since Sept. 17, 2024. It is still an open case. No resolution from Blackbaud. Please let us know if you are able to find any solution. It makes our jobs very difficult.
