Research Point New Prospects

Does anyone have any insight into what we are getting when we search for new prospects in RP? I know that we only get 100 results, but are these the "best" results? Or just random? Any way that we can get a bigger picture? or be sure that I'm not getting duplicates if I search multiple times? Thanks!

Hi there Carolyn. I did several "Find new prospects" searches in my sample RP database, and it appears the first 100 matches to your search are in alpha order by first name, whether that name is a person or a business. I hope this is helpful.
  • I've only worked with RP a little bit, but I do remember that the more I could put into the search fields, the better the results in that it's easier to find who I wanted. So, if you've got a middle initial or name, enter it along with the first and last name, for example.
  • Thanks Carol Belair‍---I did notice that it does appear to be the first 100 in alpha order...I didn't know if there was any way to get more than just 100.

Thanks, too, Heather MacKenzie‍...I agree, it does seem to find folks based on narrower filters...I would just like to see all and not just get the first 100.

I appreciate that you both took the time to respond!

    cheers!

  • Sometimes, too, BB likes to hide little links that expand lists in the bottom right corner of the screen where it's not obvious. Take a second look around the whole screen to see if anything might be hiding in this case that could be useful. Fingers crossed you might find a page forward and backward option to scroll through all the results!

Carolyn, I do know that with the Find New Prospects feature, it does return back up to the first 100 findings, and it is alpha by first name. I like what Heather stated here on ways to think about refining the search. I often refine by assets range, age or nonprofit sector of giving through NOZA if I want a more segmented group of prospects in a particular zip code, for example.
