Using One Of in Queries for Multiple Lookup IDs?

Hi - Trying to figure out a way to use “One Of” query to look against hundreds of LookupIDs. Everything I've read said I could just copy/paste from an excel column, but no luck. I've tried comma separated, comma plus space, and space only between ID#. Help!

  • It looks to me like that's only for Raiser's Edge, and doesn't work in ResearchPoint. I couldn't figure out any other way than typing them all in.

  • Thanks for trying!
  • You can bring a Raiser's Edge query into ResearchPoint. I would create your “one of” query (using KnowledgeBase article 41666). Limit is up to 500 records but you could merge multiple queries to get all your records into one query. It's easier than typing all of them into a query again. Good luck!

  • Are the records in RE? If so, could you create the query in RE then create a research list in RP from your RE query? I mean, I know you can do that in RP, but I'm not sure if that would solve your specific problem. As far as making the query in RE, if you want to get around the 500 at a time problem, I've had luck with SmartPASTE. It automates the process and makes it so much easier to build those big queries (and it's FREE!)

  • Nope. We use a different CRM at the moment.
  • @Terri Whitehouse ugh! Is there any commonality in them at all that could capture in an RP query? Copy/paste just gave me a single long line of id numbers in one row, which is what I assume happened to you.

Hi there Terri! I am wondering if you can Add a blank Research List, click on the “Add Member” button adding one record at a time, and then you can create a query based on that Research List, save the query as a Selection, and then embark on what you hope to do with that group of records?

  • I will try that, but some of these groupings have over 1,000 folks! We are converting and will have an integrated CRM with WealthPoint this time next year, which I hope will make it much easier!

Is there a way you can create an import file (with your database's IDs) and create an Attribute in RP for those you wish to isolate for your query? Then you can query on the Attribute you created.
