Creating Research List by Lookup ID Import

I'm relatively new to Blackbaud software and I'm still getting the hang of using the available features. My organization also uses Tessitura as a separate database, and I'm looking to create a research list within RP by using a .csv file of Lookup IDs from Tessitura (we made sure Lookup IDs match across platforms). Is this possible in ResearchPoint?

@Steven McCoy Welcome to the community!

Yes, you should be able to create a query in Raiser's Edge using those lookup ids and then grab it in ResearchPoint as a list.

To copy and paste the ids into a query, see this knowledge past article:

To load the RE query constituents into ResearchPoint use these instructions:

  • @Dan Snyder Thanks, Dan – My organization unfortunately does not use Raiser's Edge, but I appreciate your reply!

@Steven McCoy My apologies, sorry to have misunderstood your question.

It appears there is still a way to do that however, and this may be the correct KB article:

@Steven McCoy Hi Steven! I’ve worked with many arts & culture orgs that use Tessitura, and you made a great decision to match the Lookup IDs in Tessitura and ResearchPoint. Having read your post, I surmise that the prospects you want to group are already in RP, but you’ve made the initial prospect group in Tessitura (perhaps using attributes that are not in RP) and want to repeat the group in RP.

The replies to your question were in the ballpark, even though they referenced Raiser’s Edge. I’m going to guide you to two Knowledgebase articles; the first details how to create a research group from records in an Excel spreadsheet. I include the second because you aren’t importing net new prospects as the first KB mentions but rather grouping.

Knowledgebase Articles: KB 56421 “How to create a research group from records in Excel”, and rather than use the link in that article on importing, use this KB instead – KB 63295 “Error: There are no matched constituents for this ID”. That article will ensure the box “Check for records that match existing constituents” is checked in the batch process.

As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Blackbaud support team if you have further questions. The support chat is available, or you can call 1-800-468-8996.
