Checklist and status confusion regarding accepted/rejected candidates

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to properly manage applicant status. We have a milestone in our checklist for “Decision” when the decision is pending, and the next milestone is “admitted” which is triggered when the contract is received. But what about candidates who are accepted by the school but have not yet accepted our offer, or candidates who are rejected? In an ideal world, I'd have their status change to either “Accepted” or “Rejected” so I can use that in reporting (before I go straight to inactivating). But I can't figure out how to do this, I'm sure someone out there has a good solution!! Thanks a lot.

    We only use a status of Decision since a decision has been made on that student's admission. We use the school decision field to track Accepted, Waitlisted, Denied. Candidate status is Decision but School Decision could be any of the above. I run a list with the School Decision Field. You can set these up under Admissions setup>Decision types. If you want to add a status you can do that from Admissions setup>Checklists>Statuses.
