Participation in Philanthropy: How Will I Know If I'm Doing It?--July Thought Leadership Discussion

Hello all!

In an effort to make our monthly thought leadership webinar series more of a monthly conversation, I've decided to open a discussion here in Community ahead of each new webinar to introduce the topic and start the conversation.

I'll provide a description of the webinar, link to any associated blogs we're posting, and the speaker's biographical information.

I invite you to ask questions that you'd like answered here or in the webinar; as well as to share any experiences you have relevant to the subject! I'll be inviting the speakers to join us here in the discussion both leading up to the webinar as well as for a post-webinar Q/A.

The July Blackbaud Grantmaking Thought Leadership Webinar is:

Participation in Philanthropy: How Will I Know If I'm Doing It?

Thursday, July 20, 11 a.m. ET (Registration here, click on the banner)

Funders are increasingly interested in participatory practices to shift power to communities, even beyond grantmaking. But, what does that look like across the functional areas of a foundation, including governance, grantmaking, communications, monitoring, learning, and evaluation? Two longtime practitioners of participation in philanthropy, Diana Samarasan and Katy Love, have developed a self-assessment tool that can help funders see where they are and identify opportunities to expand participation by people with lived experience in their work. Join us to learn about this tool and how it can support you to know if you’re doing it!
