Inquiry Regarding BBGM Grantmaking Software Usage

Hi there-

We are currently considering the implementation of the BBGM (Grantmaking) software and would greatly appreciate any insights from the community regarding its usage.

If your organization uses this software, could you kindly share any process flows or documentation that might help us better understand how it functions?

Alternatively, if you are not utilizing BBGM, I would be interested to know how you currently manage grant applications and the associated processes within your organization.

Any recommendations or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello!

    My current organization, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, has been using BBGM since 2020. I’ve been using the system since 2014. As a disclaimer I’ve only used BBGM and no other grantmaking systems (besides a very manual process).

    With both the organizations I’ve worked at I was very involved in the building/managing/upkeep of the system. My biggest feedback is to mirror your grantmaking steps with BBGM which might make you do some of your steps in a different order. We try to use also similar language that is used in the system to not confuse people (we use the word request and not application).

    Thank you for sharing this information—it’s incredibly helpful, particularly the process flow outlined on your website. It’s given me a clear understanding of where we can begin, and I believe our next step would be to finalize a detailed process flow for integration into the BBGM software.

    Currently, we manually enter all applications as ‘Requests’ into BBGM and update the status based on their progress. However, we are definitely looking to automate this process to maximize the full potential of BBGM.

    Having the interested organization complete an application online is a game changer. Most of our applications are submitted that way however we do allow for some organizations to email us their application and we insert ourselves.

    For the final report and impact stories, does your team manually set the requirements once the application is marked as "paid," or is there an existing automation process that could help streamline this step?

    Additionally, I have the high-level process flow you shared earlier. Would it be possible for you to provide a more detailed BBGM functionality flow from an IT perspective?
