When soft-crediting individual for DAF, recognition credit not showing on spouse's record

Hi there!

When I receive a donation from a DAF or Foundation we apply the payment on that organization's record and then I sometimes soft-credit an individual who is responsible for the donation.

I've noticed when I do this that the soft-credit shows on recognition history tab of the individual and the household records, but it does not show up on their spouse's.

I know I can just start entering in the spouse in as well when I'm assigning the recognition credits, but I find it strange that it doesn't automatically apply them for me. Our system is set up to give all Revenue recognition credits to spouses, households etc. But perhaps since this is not really direct revenue it won't do it? If anyone has found a better work around or setting, I'd appreciate your guidance! Thanks.

@Kate Peterson You're correct - it is because it isn't direct revenue.

If you do add the SC to both spouses, make sure that you are cautious when including SCs in reports as gift amounts will be inflated.

Thank you for that insight! While reporting when I only added the SC to one spouse, I usually just added spouse name to the output field to make sure I captured both “donors” names. But my Executive Director would really like to see it easily on their records.

I wonder if I will be able to filter in a way that can easily remove the duplicates. I will have to do some playing around with our ad-hoc queries. Do you think it's doable? Thanks!

@Kate Peterson You can do it if you always exclude the non-HOH spouse. I had a filter query to that end that I used with any report that I included with soft credits. You have to dig a bit in the Criteria to get the right settings, but it is possible.
