Preventing multiple names from being added to a party for preregistered program check in

Hello all, currently our organization has found that using preregistered program check for some of our events has developed some additional hurdles for our check in process that significantly slows down check in. When visitors go to register for an event, they are prompted to add every person's name in their party. Despite it being “optional” (there is a very small check box that opts out of this feature), most visitors tend to add in every person's name. What we have found is that on high volume events this significantly slows down check in as instead of asking for one name, our admissions staff has to ask for every persons name in the group. What I am wondering is if there is a way to remove this feature so that the visitor only puts in one name and can be checked in as a group more like the traditional timed ticketing reservations. Appreciate any feedback or support. Thank you!

I have been wanting to make this registration information optional as well for all but the first person, but for a different reason. We find it's common that people just put their own email address for each registrant creating quite a few and inaccurate duplicate email addresses in the system.
