Inactive merch item vs Inactive SKU

I don't think I realized until recently that you have to mark items inactive AND mark the SKU inactive for something to be completely inactive. Ok, fine. I can create a query to pull all inactive merchandise items, but I can't find a way to indicate in the report whether or not the SKU is active.

I need to find where we've been inconsistent since some items are active with an inactive SKU and vice versa.

(Does anyone ever look this long forgotten Altru category of merchandise?)

    It appears it's been a year since anyone has posted here! I've been wondering if there are any other organizations still using Altru Merchandise… Good to know I'm not alone!

    I never quite understood why you have to mark an item inactive in two places for it to fully take effect. I suppose if you are using the dimensions feature, you might want to mark some dimensions as inactive, but not others. But I would think marking the whole item inactive would automatically mark all SKU's inactive…

    Anyway, I digress. Yes, you can find this information in a merchandise query:

    Browse for fields in: Merchandise Query -- Select Merchandise Query fields: Active

    vs.

    Browse for fields in: Merchandise Query/Inventory Item -- Select Inventory Item fields: Active

    The first one is the item. The second is the SKU.
