Certain Clients get ERROR with repeat registrations in Webform.

Hi all,

Sometimes when registering for an event twice (same name or same account) they see an error that we can not seem to correct. Any work arounds? Is there an allow repeat feature or something that we're missing?

The odd thing is that it happens for certain people or perhaps certain programs, but we don't have enough data to make evident which it is.

Thank you,

Rachel

  • @Rachel MacKenzie We've had that issue when a parent tries to register multiple children for a class, and instead of putting their children's names, they put their own name. Our programs are set to allow only one registration per person, so if they use their own name, they get an error. We just have to remind them to put the child's name in Registrant, and not their own.

Yes, @Tami Goertzen has it right- the system won't allow you to have the same registrant on two registrations for a single pre-register program. They can be the host for multiple tickets without an issue. Usually when this happens, it's because one of our constituents forgot they already registered (most common), or they bought a ticket and are trying to get another for a friend but are putting their own name in both the transaction information (which would be host) and the ticket information (which it won't let you do).

Deep in the custom options for web forms, there is theoretically a place to edit what that error message says, and I changed ours to something like “it looks like you already registered for this program. If you need help finding your registration information or email, contact us at XXX@YY.com, or put a different name for your additional tickets if you are buying for guests".

  • For those searching, the settings are buried DEEP on a per-event basis.

Web > Manage Event Forms > expand the EVENT (not program unfortunately), and click the options gear.

On the pop-up window: Click “Language”. There are several categories to choose from where you can rename things like “registrant” and the error messages.
