@Crystal Bruce As we are utilizing other channels this fall for our annual fund, we have made our Giving Tuesday focus the student orgs on campus. We already have over 2 dozen that will be using our platform for their crowdfunding efforts. Will be exciting to see the results.

@JoAnn Strommen If you learn something new from this approach, I hope you'll share with the rest of us!

  • @Crystal Bruce
We have a small donor match going on, so we're doing an email blast both from our CRM and the marketing department's CRM. So far, the “this is coming” email has generated donations, so we're hopeful the incentive of a match will score more!

  • @Crystal Bruce Our school focuses on a Community Giving Day in the spring, so we don't devote large efforts to GivingTuesday.

We've not done anything for GivingTuesday in the past, partly because it's right in the middle of our Rosh Hashanah and Chanukah appeals.

I am interested to see how many UK charities do make use of GivingTuesday, considering we don't celebrate Thanksgiving (only Black Friday lol) and other charities here will be launching their Christmas appeals.

  • We will be changing things a bit from last year in that we won't route direct traffic to our giving page until the day before (instead of the week before last year) and NOT SENDING OUT A COMPETING EMAIL PIECE THE SAME DAY!! That should definitely help us reach our goal this year!

We're going to do a pop-up on our page starting next Tuesday to prime people that leads to our Giving Tuesday page and that's the only way for now to get to that page until we switch it over.

    @Crystal Bruce
A big Direct Mail and Email Marketing push. Giving Tuesday is usually pretty good around here. Our Direct Mail vendor handles most of it. We're sending a special newsletter to donors outside that stream as well. 'Tis the season for chaos!

@Crystal Bruce We use Giving Tuesday as the start of our EOY campaign. We don't go all -out for the day because it feels like the day is oversaturated by this point but we have a new online fundraising platform that's been showing great results so we're eager to test that on a full campaign.

Donating clothing and having a food drive at my organization.

We embrace the spirit of “giving back” and use it as a promotion event for adopting local families for Christmas. It isn't a fundraising event for us. Instead, it builds camaraderie for our org in the community, gets people on campus, and builds trust for us as an organization that leads the community in service to others. We feel our donors get plenty of asks the rest of the year and we needed something to get them actively involved hands-on. So we make it a big hoopla, with lit-up Christmas trees, gift wrapping stations, blanket-tying centers, card-signing tables, an ornament kid zone, and the like. I think it's one of our more popular events of the year.

  • @Crystal Bruce we are doing a e-mail campaign targeted at younger donors and younger prospects to get them to turn into recuring donors. We are also hosting an aray of volunteer opportunities around Los Angeles at our food banks and senior centers.

  • @Crystal Bruce We've tried this in the past but not very successful. We're working on other strategies. If they go well, we will share :)

  • We keep ours really simple with an email to our donors.

  • @Crystal Bruce We've just completed our annual fundraiser so we're too close to that event and our end of the year appeal and we've decided to not do any Giving Tuesday this year because we're worried it will take away from the appeal where we are asking donors for specific amounts. Don't know if others run into this?

  • We've just completed our bi-annual fundraiser so we only plan to do a small social media post & email push.

  • We are going to use an email and a social media push.

  • Since we are consultants and support other clients, we try to guide them as to what would be the most successful. For many, that's a social media/email strategy.

  • Our giving day is early in November to separate us from Giving Tuesday, but we always do some social media follow up, “ you can still make an impact”, etc.

  • @Michael Bergler
we are using it for a social thanking day to our supporters with a subtle link to our appeal in the bio.

  • @Crystal BruceWe are going to use an email and a social media push.

We've got a great “competition" going on across our alumni classes and also are using various email pushes to drive activity to the website. For each gift received we are putting a pennant on the school's front lawn so everyone can see the progress. Particularly helpful for parents dropping off and picking up students!

  • @Crystal Bruce Since the market is a bit oversaturated with other nonprofits fundraising on Giving Tuesday, we are focusing more on giving in other ways. We are focusing on encouraging our supporters to give their time and their voice.

  • @Crystal Bruce we are doing an Athletics giving day and all the coaches from each team are sending emails to past alumni who participated in that sport. We have multiple emails for those not annotated with a sport as well. We hit social media and the website. We found more participation success during our challenge week in May. Good luck to everyone.

  • @Crystal Bruce, as a fraternal benefit organization, we support volunteer groups throughout the country. We are hosting a lunch for local nonprofit representatives to thank them for their work in our community while sharing how we can support and amplify their efforts.

  • @Crystal Bruce We are doing emails, social media, and slider/pop-up on our website.

  • @Crystal Bruce
We're doing a double your donation match, emails, and social media updates

  • @Crystal Bruce We are sending emails and using our different social media platforms. Along with a short video on what we are raising money for.

  • @Crystal Bruce

I am using it as a tool for an internal staff solicitation. Next year, I'd like to include a challenge/competition between departments.

  • @Crystal Bruce

We're engaging our eight colleges to post on their social media channels, rather than just replying on Advancement and general University channels.

We have turned #GivingTuesday into quite an event! With over $700,000 in Matching Funds this year provided by several generous donors, we have raised over $1.5M for #GivingTuesday. We utilize email and promote on all our social media channels. Our marketing team begins a series of emails to all our donors about 4 weeks leading up to the big day. It's fun and exhausting! ?
