BBCon app?
Will there be an app this year? It was so helpful in past years. I will not be bringing my computer with me, so my phone is what I've got. I downloaded the old Blackbaud events app but when I open it, I get a message that this app is no longer available. Will there be a new one for this year?

@Amy Barker I believe there will be! Someone else may be able to confirm

@Crystal Bruce , I wonder if there's any update you can give us about an app?

@Amy Barker yes there will be a progressive web app available for conference attendees. We are planning to roll this out next week via email to registrants. Stay tuned!

@Kristen Belanger Oh yikes. I'll be traveling a lot of next week with no access to my email. I'll just hope for a Monday or Tuesday roll out I guess. I won't have my laptop with me when I travel to Denver, so no access to email at all.
FIngers crossed it is early in the week.1 -
Has anyone heard anything about the app since the email last week??? Getting ready to fly out tomorrow and would have liked to have had this ready to go before I left.

I've heard nothing and don't appear to have even received the “email last week.” If you're going to give us an app, we need it before the conference starts. By at least 2 days. A week would be better. Seeing as how we're past that point already, I'm doubting there will actually be an app. @Kristen Belanger

@Amy Barker I guess I should try and print out my agenda before I leave.

@Kristen Belanger It is Thursday any update on the app? And it is web based, not an actual application we need to download? I think most of us would prefer an actual APP.

it looks like the mobile version of the BBCON website is the “APP” it is absolutely awful, the interface is not great at all

Does anyone know how to print out the sessions and your personal agenda?

@Briget McAninch - Login to the site, then go to In-person > Agenda. Just above the agenda, there's a listing for “want to print the full session list?”, click on that link. On the next screen, click on the link next to “Want to download all sessions and customize your printed schedule?".
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you can download your agenda. I reviewed the schedule in excel, manually marked the sessions I chose on that document, and then put them on my work calendar.0 -
the app is web based and it is very clunky. most of the links do not even work on my phone, hopefully it is still being worked on, and willbe ready to go by saturday. I can't view my agenda on it yet. I loved the OLD app where we had literally had a map of where we were going for each session, like turn left here, turn right etc. Maybe the convention center has an app we can use for that.

@Lauren Fardella I doubt there's an app, BUT the convention center website does have a map available. I've looked at it and it seems quite useful.

@Lauren Fardella It does not seem like there will be a discussion board, or ways to message other attendees like before.

@Marie Stark there WAS a chat feature but it wasnt working. It is not there anymore.

@Lauren Fardella Thats too bad. I was hoping maybe people would get together a group for dinner but I guess we can't do that now.

@Marie Stark I am hoping it will work better by Saturday!!! It is so clunky and hard to navigate

Well… this is disappointing. There is not actually a BBCon app. It's just a mobile version of the bbcon website, and it is not functioning well. When using the site on a mobile device, it is glitchy. I sometimes cannot get the menu to work, and it's as if the site freezes. I try to click on Agenda, but it will not open, after which, none of the other menu options work either.
When building your personal agenda, you can only add one session per time slot. If you try to add something for the same time, it will not allow it and tells you to remove the first item you added. This is problematic for two reasons. 1) For those of us who have been to the conference in-person before, you know that it's very useful to have a second breakout session in your schedule for each timeslot because sometimes you go to a session and it's too full to get into or you get into a session and find that it isn't really what you expected. 2) Some of the items on the agenda have overlapping timeslots. For example, if you add something to your agenda that is scheduled 9am-10am, you cannot add something else to your agenda that is scheduled for 9:45am-10:45am.
There's also no discussion board or newsfeed feature like there has been with the BBCon apps of the past. I always found that feature to be incredibly helpful at putting out a blast at the conference to locate people who might be interested in joining you a discussion about a specific topic. For example, I posted one year to anyone interested in discussing DAFs to meet me at a specific location and join me for lunch. It was great! Now you can only specifically schedule meetings with a specific person (so you have to know who they are already).

@Devan Caton I just found out there is an Activity Feed available now which is like a discussion board.

Hey everyone - In light of the less than stellar chat on the bbcon ‘app’ PSG whipped up a free slack channel that everyone attending bbcon is welcome to join!

@Austen Brown Thanks so much!

@Marie Stark Thank you! That wasn't there before. So glad they added it!

@Austen Brown Thank you for posting this! I totally missed that there was an Excel option. That's much better!
