First Time User of Google Assignments- Switch from Google Classroom

Hello! Is there anyone who could speak to their school's experience switching from google classroom to the use of google assignments within BB? We have HUGE concerns that this switch will really be burdensome to teachers. Is it worth doing?

We also have concerns about the functionality of a feature that is still in process and will not be available at the start of the school year (for teachers to add a template as an assignment, and then a copy is made for each student and automatically attached, preventing the extra step of students having to make a copy and attach theirs).

Lacking confidence in making this switch, and we'd appreciate anyone's input from experience with it.

    From my seat, it sounds like your understanding of the Google Assignments LTI with BB is spot on with it not fully working as well as it does with other LMS', specifically including the template/copy process. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't want to make the move in this direction given the current state of the feature, depending on how Google Classroom is being used currently.

    Hi @Shannon Craige - You are correct, we cannot yet accommodate the template feature that Google Assignment leverages, however things like Grade Passback and Student Submission of assignments are things that you can currently use with the LTI 1.1 feature. I'll include a link to a HelpDocument down below if you want to learn more about that. Otherwise, our team is actively working on implementing LTI 1.3 standards, and we're hoping that once we have that configured and certified, that we'll be able to use some other capabilities that otherwise weren't possible with the previous iteration. I don't have a specific timeline to relay, but I can say that the team is and has been working on this project for the last couple of months. In fact, we recently completed the initial certification for LTI 1.3 and I'll link that below as well. It's not yet live in the product, as we want to do some internal testing first, but I'm hopefully that we'll be able to get it out to all of you in the near future!

    @Michael Morrissette thanks for this posting, and I wonder where I might best stay informed on any known timeline that gets created? The template-ability within Google Assignments is such a boon for teachers that I'd love a way to easily get faculty that ability.
