Try Two-Step Authentication With Your Blackbaud ID!

Published

While your email address and password help secure your Blackbaud ID used to sign in to Raiser's Edge NXT and this Community, you can now try an extra layer of security! With two-step authentication, your Blackbaud ID requires a unique verification code — received on your personal device, to confirm your identity — in addition to your usual credentials. If you don't currently sign in with Google, you can now try two-step authentication as part of an Early Access Program!

b0faf9cd3d6a8d3f1f565e3586aa6f2c-huge-2fTo try this extra layer of security, visit your new Blackbaud ID profile and select Turn on under Two-step authentication. When you turn on two-step authentication, you can choose:
  • How to receive your verification codes — as text messages, or through a mobile authenticator such as Google Authenticator or Auth0 Guardian.
  • Whether to exempt a device and browser — like one you frequently use — from requiring a verification code for 30 days.
As part of the Early Access Program: Thanks in advance for your interest and participation!

Hey Jeremie! Not currently, but if all goes well, you can look for it next year. As an alternative, your organization can set up a single sign-on (SSO) connection for its Blackbaud IDs, which would then enable extra layers of security like 2FA through your identity provider. Hope that helps!
Is there a way, on the admin side, to force a user to adopt 2-step authentication?
Great they thought of this.  Yet, we ALSO need two-step authentication for blackbaud hosting for database view.  one can go directly to login2.blackbaudhosting.com and with an ID/password can get to the RE database.  Two-step authentication here would be necessary too.  and since RE Database view is still going to be around for a long while ...
To follow up, you can now use two-step authentication even if you currently sign in with Google. To enable this extra layer of security, visit your Blackbaud ID profile at https://signin.blackbaud.com/userprofile/ and select 'Turn on' under 'Two-step authentication'. Enjoy!
This is a great idea, thanks!
