JustGiving & Strava (Fitness Challenge)

Hi all,

My nonprofit is trying to put together a virtual event/challenge like many of you. We're leaning towards a fitness (running/cycling) event, and love the idea of having our fundraisers use Strava to track their miles & raise funds.

However, I'm having a hard time finding examples of what this Strava integration looks like on active fundraising campaigns and fundraiser pages? Does anyone have an example that you can send me a link to? Also, feel free to drop and advice/tips as this will be our first virtual event on JustGiving, we've done a campaign before, but not like this.

How do organizations track fundraiser mileage? (I've read that mileage from fundraisers do not roll up to the overall campaign and miles aren't reportable through reports in JustGiving.) Where can we go to see all the miles by our fundraisers, that's easily reportable? Does all of this data come from the back end of the Strava Team app?

Hello Amanda, I know Western Wildcats Hockey Club recently ran a 5K club challenge and asked each participant to donate £5 to a charity of their choice. Participants were asked to join a Whatsapp group and post their strava run plus a "sweaty selfie" with their times. A volunteer at the club compiled a spreadsheet for fastest time, most 5ks, teams and ages. There were 140 participants in total with daily tweets to update everyone on the total distance so far. p.s I know many charities took part in the 2.6 challenge on Justgiving and there may be more sophisticated examples there.

I am not sure what the Strava Team app looks like (I haven't used it before.) BUT, this is a great fundraising page/page owner who has used the strava integration: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Melissa-Tuomi. You are correct that miles do not roll up into the organization's campaign page or JustGiving reports. Blackbaud does offer customized projects that will totalizing mileage for campaigns.

Everyone, I just ran this question by the Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising™, powered by JustGiving™ product development team and I have good news - I was wrong! (Well, mostly.) It turns out you can run the fundraising page reports (reports>fundraising page reports) and see the mileage for those fundraisers/page owners who choose to integrate with Strava. Please note this is for those who integrate only. You can export the report and easily totalize the miles on a campaign basis.
