Digital Fundraising Specialist – Development – Orlando
The Digital Fundraising Specialist is responsible for supporting Second Harvest Food Bank’s digital and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts. The Digital Fundraising Specialist will work closely with the Development Team to support donor strategy and collaborate with Second Harvest departments on digital needs.
About Second Harvest
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. SHFBCF secures and distributes food and grocery products to approximately 550 local nonprofit feeding programs throughout Central Florida. Last year, with the help of food and financial donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank has distributed enough food for 76 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes. In addition, Second Harvest’s 16-week culinary training program teaches foodservice-based technical, life and employability skills to economically hard-pressed adults. Department Overview
The Development Team at Second Harvest is charged with ensuring that the overall financial sustainability of the ever-growing food bank mission is adequately supported by marketing communications (community awareness) and active philanthropic outreach, cultivation, and stewardship. The development team is on the front lines of telling the compelling story of hunger relief and providing meaningful opportunities for the community to engage in that work through gifts of money, volunteer time, non-perishable food, and/or advocacy of public policy. The team is a vital link to the community relationships and resources that allow the food bank’s programs and services to flourish and to grow.
Job Responsibilities
Digital Fundraising and Marketing
- Manage and update Second Harvest Food Bank’s website and blog platforms.
- Build and maintain robust peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns on platforms such as TeamRaiser, JustGiving, and others to support existing and new Food Bank digital fundraising initiatives.
- Work on digital projects such as websites, evaluate platforms and digital tools for departments at Second Harvest Food Bank.
- Execute online communication plans for peer-to-peer events to recruit, register, retain, recognize and equip individual participants, fundraisers and donors.
- Build and deploy emails to support annual email fundraising and engagement strategy. Tasks may include HTML coding, audience creation and segmentation, A/B testing, building donation forms, and creative design.
- Build and manage websites using CMS tools like Wordpress, Shopify and Blackbaud Luminate.
- Help maintain and optimize online donation process. Regularly update donation autoresponders.
- Create graphics as needed for digital projects.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating new opportunities for online, peer-to-peer and DIY fundraising.
Customer Service
- Provide technical support for online donors and peer-to-peer event participants. Maintain personal contact and good relationships with donors through timely and polite responses to donor inquiries.
- Provide technical support and training to relevant internal staff.
Data and Administration
- Work with Data team to ensure appropriate coding of online gifts in Bloomerang database for reporting, acknowledgement, recognition, communications and continued cultivation of donors.
- Perform related responsibilities as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years experience of digital fundraising, marketing or web development experience.
- Strong computer skills (ability to adapt to new software and systems)
- Working knowledge Adobe Creative Cloud, Dreamweaver and Microsoft Office.
- Familiar with responsive design standards and experience in creating designs for multiple platforms and screen sizes
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS or JavaScript preferred.
- Working knowledge of digital best practices, benchmarks and trends
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to coach and train others.
Desired Skills and/or Certifications
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics
- Graphic Design experience
