This is a position that works with the Storytelling and Communications Manager and internal stakeholders to provide expert graphic design and multimedia storytelling across Second Harvest’s digital channels, including social media, website, blog and other communications platforms.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. SHFBCF secures and distributes food and grocery products to approximately 550 local nonprofit feeding programs throughout Central Florida. Last year, with the help of food and financial donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank has distributed enough food for 76 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes. In addition, Second Harvest’s 16-week culinary training program teaches foodservice-based technical, life and employability skills to economically hard-pressed adults. Department Overview

The Development Team at Second Harvest is charged with ensuring that the overall financial sustainability of the ever-growing food bank mission is adequately supported by marketing communications (community awareness) and active philanthropic outreach, cultivation, and stewardship. The development team is on the front lines of telling the compelling story of hunger relief and providing meaningful opportunities for the community to engage in that work through gifts of money, volunteer time, non-perishable food, and/or advocacy of public policy. The team is a vital link to the community relationships and resources that allow the food bank’s programs and services to flourish and to grow.

Work Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.

Job Summary

The Multimedia Specialist works to uphold food bank brand, personality, tone, look and feel across platforms and design projects. Provides unified visual and written voice that resonates with staff, partners, donors and community stakeholders in order to inspire and engage audiences. They serve as the daily manager of content and food bank follower interaction on social media, create supporting media imagery and graphics to convey stories, including video vignettes, and still photography.

Job Responsibilities

Graphic Design:

- Designs and implements graphics for use across platforms, including social media, blog, website, digital signage and other online communications.

- Edits photography and videography for use in digital campaigns, including email and social media

- Works with other departments to conceptualize, outline and design artwork for print projects and special events.

- Provides project updates, manages expectations and meets deadlines.

- Upholds brand guidelines in all designed digital and print touchpoints.

- Manage print vendor relationships

Social Media:

- Implements social media strategy with inspiring and engaging posts on a daily basis on food bank platforms

- Develops social media schedule that supports Development Department goals while supporting other departments in promoting activities, such as Chef Nights, program news, volunteer activities, and special events

- Interacts with social media constituents and followers in a positive manner

- Responds to private messages and inquiries in a timely manner

- Engages and stewards Facebook Fundraisers

- Oversees social media platforms for special events and programs, including Taste! Central Florida

- Prepares monthly social media reports

Photography and Video:

- Shoot and edit photography and videography

- Manage relationships with volunteer photographers and videographers. Schedule as needed for projects and special events.

- Other duties as needed



Requirements


Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or work experience in a communications, graphic design or related field

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in communications and graphic design

- Significant experience and working knowledge of digital videography, photography and editing

- Significant experience and knowledge of social media marketing

- Ability to prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously

- Ability to travel within a six-county area (personal vehicle required – mileage reimbursement provided).

- Demonstrated creativity through portfolio of professional work

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, PowerPoint

- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including PhotoShop, Illustrator

Desired Skills and/or Certifications

- Experience with social media management programs, i.e., Sprout Social or HootSuite

- Working knowledge of online creative tools, i.e., Canva or Adobe Spark
