How to make changes to funds listed in raiser's edge database view

How do you make changes to your funds in database view. Add funds, remove funds or just change the name.

Under Records, select Funds. Select New fund or open a fund to change.

We sometimes update the name and/or fund ID if it's been changed in our finance system (not integrated with RE), though I keep a record of the previous details in the notes section just in case.

If you change the Fund ID or Description on the Fund record itself, it will automatically be changed on all gift records or anywhere else the Fund may appear. I get that question a lot.

You will not be able to delete a Fund if it appears anywhere in the database. Sometimes that will be in an Action or a Proposal ("Opportunity" in webview). It also can “hide" in an adjustment, in which case I would not delete the Fund.

Adding is pretty straightforward but does require an extra step of setting up the GL distribution if you are synchronized with Financial Edge.

I would recommend searching the knowledgebase for other specifics, or use the help function within RE.
