Mailing Extracts out of Raiser's Edge

I wanted to get a sense of how others are pulling mailing extracts out of Raiser's Edge. We have tried using quick letters in Raiser's Edge, and it has most of what we need, except you are limited on the fields that you can bring into your extract. We can utilize query/query lists and export to get what we need. The issue we are running into is around how our mailing functionality worked in our previous ERP system (Ellucian Advance).

What we are trying to accomplish:

• Pulling a single mailing list extract from Raiser's Edge that appropriately handles pulling in the correct salutations and addressees based on conditional logic
  • When bringing in couples, want to have the ability to bring in individual salutations/addressee data when only one of the spouses comes into a list and use joint when both come into the list
  • When spouses do not share mailing addresses (rare, but it occurs), want to only bring in the individuals information.
• Need the ability to stack names on an address label. We seem like we can manage this by bringing in Jnt Mail Name 1 and Jnt Mail Name 2 fields. This works from an export, but is not possible from Quick letters as it only allows you to export a single addressee field. As noted above though, there are times where we would not use joint addressee and salutation on joint records. So the presence of the jnt fields will be confusing to the person submitting the request.

I guess my overall question is is this all or nothing? You either need to use joint addressees and salutations or you need to use individual in a single export?
