POSITION SUMMARY: The Annual Fund Officer will lead the planning and implementation of Pendle Hill’s Annual Fund, with the goal of achieving long-term growth through a focus on donor acquisition and retention, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. They will set and achieve goals for growth of the Annual Fund and donor base, review results, working in coordination with other staff and volunteers, including the Pendle Hill board, to achieve these goals.

FUND DEVELOPMENT AT PENDLE HILL: Over the past three years, and despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic, the Annual Fund has averaged $350,000 per year with a 20% increase budgeted for FY 2023 as operations return to normal.

REPORTS TO: Director of Advancement

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Annual Fund Officer is directly responsible for the preparation and management of all appeals and other direct-mail fundraising efforts, as well as donor communication programs. The Annual Fund Officer works closely with the Advancement Associate to ensure accurate and detailed records in our constituent database, Raiser’s Edge. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the development field with a proven track record in achieving or exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Experience coordinating annual giving campaigns or direct marketing efforts, involving mail appeals, phone solicitations, email and online marketing.
  • Nuanced knowledge of the many ways that a database or CRM system can support fundraising efforts, and the ability to quickly become an intermediate or proficient user of new technical systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and especially the use of spreadsheets.
  • Excellent writing skills with experience in effective writing for fundraising purposes.
  • Ability to think strategically while also being detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated good judgement, professionalism, and the highest standards of ethical conduct. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Ability to work well independently and cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.
  • Comfort in multicultural work settings and commitment to social justice.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of Raiser’s Edge.

TIME EXPECTATIONS: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Out of respect for work-life balance, “full-time” at Pendle Hill is 37.5 hours per week, with 7.5-hour typical workdays. Full-time staff at Pendle Hill spend a few work hours each week contributing to the community through meal time, housekeeping, or maintenance work.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: $50,000-$53,000 yearly salary plus benefits including: medical, dental and life insurance, a retirement plan, generous paid vacation days (20), sick days (15), and holidays (11), and the opportunity to take Pendle Hill courses for free. Additional benefits include one meal a day from the Pendle Hill Kitchen (free to staff except for the tax), a 20% employee discount at the Pendle Hill Bookstore, free copies of all Pendle Hill pamphlets upon publication, a beautiful campus with walking trails and fellowship with people from around the world. Full time staff are eligible for competitively priced on-campus housing (depending on availability, and at Pendle Hill’s discretion).
