Senior Tableau Report Developer - University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL

General Overview:
The Senior Report Developer is responsible for the design, development, and support of customized reports for the entire Division of Development and Alumni Relations – with a focus on reporting for the medical units and departments. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for identifying and integrating data from relevant sources to maximize the effectiveness, availability, and accuracy of reporting for the division. The incumbent should be comfortable using data and visualizations to tell stories and aid in decision making.
Advanced knowledge of visual analytics platforms (Tableau in specific), along with the ability to apply this knowledge, is fundamental in this role.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex reports using advanced Tableau functionality and other relevant technology and tools.
- Create interactive & static visualizations, including graphs and charts, maps, and tables for use by internal stakeholders.
- Work under the guidance of the Enterprise Data Architect to design and create Tableau data sources to support division wide reporting needs.
- Develop a strong understanding of business requirements; working with business users and analysts to define business, technical and process requirements.
- Create, review, and publish user guides and/or knowledge base articles for published dashboards and data sources.
- Serve as Tableau subject matter expert, providing guidance to Tableau report writers across the division.
- Spearhead the development, documentation and communication of Tableau standards and guidelines.
- Develop and implement reporting roadmap for the Division of Development and Alumni Relations that is strategically aligned with division goals, including short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans and objectives.
- Build effective working relationships with IT team members and business data analysts across varied functional areas; promote analytic models for data driven decision making.
- Extend the capability of division reporting through statistical analysis and metrics reporting.
- Provide technical expertise for product evaluation, recommendations, and implementation of internal reporting tools.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies, procedures, and safeguards University assets.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required, Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years demonstrated professional experience in Tableau; a combination of experience in Tableau and a similar toolset, such as MS Power BI or SAS Analytics may be considered. Tableau professional certifications a plus.
- A combination of education/experience may be considered.
- Expertise in designing and building complex data sets, dashboards and reports utilizing Tableau and/or similar tool.
- Demonstrated experience using SQL (Structured Query Language) to query databases and extract relevant data.
- Working knowledge of data science/analysis programing languages such as R or Python.
- Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Good articulation, data visualization, and presentation skills to communicate results.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel.
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to correlate heterogeneous information/data into meaningful facts for reporting.
- Ability to establish goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
