Question of the day 4 of 4: Same points apply
What is one of your most memorable meals?
Mine was with my husband in Las Vegas over 16 years ago. We were eating dinner super late in an Italian restaurant. Tom Jones walked in and sat right beside us. We didn't interrupt his meal, but the waiter did take our photo and it got the back of his head in the photo.

@Elizabeth Perron I remember a restaurant on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach which sadly is closed now. We used to go for my birthday, sit outside and order their special pasta carbonara.

@Elizabeth Perron - Thanksgiving at my grandparents house growing up - so much good food!

@Elizabeth Perron, of all the special meals, my birthday meals as a child that my mom (who was called Home a few months ago) would make…fried chicken, creamy rice, green beans and a lucious cake with homemade frosting. ?

@Elizabeth Perron My husband and I went to Boston for the weekend a few years back. We were having breakfast at the hotel restaurant when Billie Piper sat down at the table next to us. We're huge Whovians and were totally giddy about how cool it was to be having breakfast with Rose Tyler.

@Elizabeth Perron, I have been struggling with this question because I don't have a favorite restaurant story like yours. I would have to agree with @Dana Burton on birthday meals. My mom may not be the best cook, but she makes my birthday meals special. She makes excellent birthday cakes. I am blessed to be celebrating my birthday tomorrow. I will be celebrating my 60th birthday with my mom cooking me lasagna and cake ?

There was a restaurant called Chili Time that I lived by as a kid. Oddly, I remember them having both excellent chili and breadsticks, which I normally don't associate together. I also had my first taste of Mountain Dew there (albeit caffeine-free). The atmosphere of that place sticks with me a lot - warm, dim lighting where families could just talk, eat, and be together. And it was right next-door to a novelty/party shop that had mannequins in the window. They'd dress them for different holidays. The Halloween ones used to freak me out because they felt super realistic at the time, but I still really liked looking at them. After it closed, that building sat vacant for a long time, as did much of the street it was on. But in recent visits to the area, it looks like they've really tried to make that street into something cool again.3 -

Hmm … it's funny what can make something memorable. I've had lots of delicious and nostalgic meals. But probably the most memorable are the holiday meals from my childhood. My mom liked to try expand our horizons, and about once a year, we would experiment with an exotic dish we'd never had before: lobster, starfruit, squid salad, and one year we had caviar. We enjoyed all of them, that is, until the year we all got excited to try escargo. My mom put so much work into that dish, finding a great recipe, preparing it. But no matter how hard you dress it up, I'm sorry, snails are still snails. No one could eat it and I think we ended up tossing the pan in the trash, lol.0 -

When I was a kid we'd spend a lot of time up in the Lakes Region and White Mountains of New Hampshire. Storyland (an amusement park) was always on the agenda while up there. I remember eating my first corndog ever! My dad ordered it for me and my mom wasn't sure I'd like it. I thought it was delicious and to this day whenever I have one I think of those fun trips with my family. Incredibly fond memories!1 -

A number of years ago, my Mum and I visited Verona and ate the most delicious asparagus risotto in the square outside the Roman arena. I still remember how it tasted and how we considered having a second helping, but ultimately decided that it was better to eat it and still want more than to be over-satisfied.2 -

? - I needed a laughing icon under the like selections. Your snail experience brought back my memory of oysters. Our family would go to the beach in June after school for our family vacation. My mother loves oysters and would get them when we went to the beach. One year my mother wanted me to try one. Needless to say, it didn't go well. I could not swallow or chew the oyster. I never touched another after that day.1
