New Parent Portal for Course Registration

…is a disaster.

  • The system is stating "Requests are unable to be saved" for some users, although their selections and our settings for those are correct. Edit: The issue is that the new portal uses the total number of requests rather than the number of requests per semester which counts each any-term request as .5, and averages them out. The old interface works off of the number per semester. This is a problem, because it allows our student to have more than 7 requests per semester.
  • The instructions box provides only 5 lines of information and must be expanded. When it is, it covers the entire page as a popout, and must be hidden to continue.
  • When scrolling down the page, the per term request numbers are hidden and are also hidden when the course information pops out from the right hand side of the screen
  • There are only hyperlinks that must be clicked to access course information with no visual cues for what must be clicked in order for the description and course selection boxes to appear.
  • Boxes within boxes in the course selection GUI are highly unintuitive.
  • The parent interface is different than the student interface which remains the old version. The student version takes the same requests that the parent version and doesn't generate errors.

I'll refrain from any emotionally charged responses here, but it would have been nice to have some input on this “feature” before rolling it out.
