Impact of Amazon Web Services Outage on Blackbaud Education and Payment Products

I wanted to reach out to this community regarding the disruption that affected your ability to access your Blackbaud education solutions yesterday due to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage. Several Blackbaud solutions were impacted by the global outage with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that occurred between 2:49 a.m.-6:01 p.m. ET on October 20, 2025.

You depend on our solutions, and we understand that service issues can be disruptive to your school community.  We regret the frustration and inconvenience this outage caused. While global outages from major service providers like Amazon Web Services can present significant challenges, we remain committed to finding effective ways to support our solutions and maintain reliability however possible.

Our dedicated product and specialized technology teams worked to limit the impact on our customers and continued to work with AWS as they worked to restore services throughout the school day yesterday.

At 6:01 p.m. ET on Oct. 20, Amazon communicated that its global outage was resolved, our teams continued to monitor and evaluate our solutions overnight and this morning to ensure Blackbaud solutions were operational.

Please note: As a result of the outage, Blackbaud Tuition Management and Billing Management payors would not have been able to submit payments for processing and should resubmit their payments for processing. Your school will need to decide if late fees will be applicable during this timeframe.

Please continue to report issues to customer support so our teams can quickly begin to research and resolve issues. You can report sign-in issues via Chat-Blackbaud.  And, you can also refer to our status page for real-time ongoing updates on any incidents that may affect your solutions.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and partnership as we navigated this unexpected event.
