Question about Azure

I went through the search and only found topics regarding issues with Azure (super! ?)     We are schedule to update tonight to Azure.   If I read everything correctly, all users will no longer  log on to the database view via login2.blackbaudhosting.com (Boston), instead they only will log on to renxt.blackbaud.com and choose the Database view from there.

I have very hesitant users here and do not like change, so I want to make sure the conversion goes over smoothly.     I can all ready hear the complaining..

How did the Azure migration go Lauren Fardella‍?
  • So far so good Dariel Dixon  Thank you :)
  • Other than Queue not working, we're actually pretty happy with Azure... we were set up on it initially and never converted from another server type.

We initially had some problems with automatic FTPs and being able to access network drives, but those issues were (eventually) worked out...

    Good luck!
  • Azure / Cloud hosting is soooooooo much better than traditional hosting. Hey Tom Klimchak‍ our RE:Queue is working just fine (automated night exports of CSV files to share location for next day upload to volunteer management system). Glad to jump on a screenshare if you want to troubleshoot / compare notes. I think sometimes you get more/better info on RE:Queue from fellow users than traditional support. Of course, as soon as Dan Bowman‍ launches the Power Automate EAP I'm going to convert my Queues to Flows because Ben Lambert‍ is going to make sure I can run a flow in Power Automate that's linked to a list or ***gasp*** a query, right?
  • Thanks, Graham Getty‍ !  I'll pass the offer on to our IT side and server operations.  We have a few open tickets with Blackbaud, all of which would "seem" to be resolved only to have another issue crop up a week later.  Based on a few other threads you might be one of the few people who has had good luck with Queue.

The whole experience has left a very bad impression of Blackbaud support and we actively warn other people about relying on Queue or Blackbaud support to solve anything other than simple issues.
  • Uh oh! I'm getting a little nervous reading through this thread. We are scheduled to go live with a hosted environment later this month after being self-hosted for around 20 years. We rely on RE:Queue to export .CSVs for importing into Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management nightly. Do you guys have any tips of what to watch out for as potential sticking points?
  • Just a quick question to Graham Getty, you mentioned that Azure hosting is better than traditional hosting. Would you mind elaborating on the benefits you have observed? We've received notifications that we are eligible for relocation but are struggling to understand why we should make the move unless it will eventually be required of all clients.
